We round tripped (100% Fib. retracement) yesterday touching that $1.05 intraday support, which I think will hold as we begin a nice bullish reversal off oversold conditions.
For sure the 1/13/21 news of the packaging patent had to do with the run up along with the timing which was just a few days after we broke through the $1.05 resistance level which triggered technical buying.

"Platforms which are integrated with silicon photonics"
Polymer- Lightwave Logic
"are integrated" ?
Not "can be or will be" integrated with silicon photonics...hmm?
A couple of highlighted paragraphs from an Applied Materials article....(new types of silicon?)
Among all of the emerging technology megatrends, AI in particular has major implications for the electronics and semiconductor ecosystem. First, we’re moving from an application-centric world to a data-first model where almost all data will be generated and consumed by machines. This means that the industry’s growth will no longer be limited by the ability of humans to create or consume data.
Second, a new computing approach is needed to make sense of the massive volumes of available data. We’ll enhance productivity using faster, workload-specific hardware built from customized, and even entirely new, types of silicon. And third, training neural networks for AI computing is incredibly energy intensive, which places a huge imperative on the industry to drive performance-per-watt improvements.
_______________
As we enter what we believe will be an unprecedented period of industry expansion in the decade ahead, the traditional driver of chip technology progress—classic Moore’s Law scaling—has run out of steam and can no longer provide simultaneous improvements in power, performance and area-cost (PPAC). This is causing the industry to adopt a new playbook for achieving PPAC gains to unlock the potential of IoT, Big Data and AI. This new playbook is defined by new semiconductor architectures, 3D structures, novel materials, new ways to shrink features and new ways to connect individual chips with advanced packaging. A most important consideration for chipmakers in a world of rising fab costs is time to market—the “t” in Applied’s PPACt framework.

Thx for the follow up proto, appreciate all that you do to keep us up to date!
Thx proto,
I did see that last week. When I say transformational, I mean a headline that will give us the kinda of volume and stamina to punch up through historical highs and get the heavy hitters to stand up and pay attention! We need something to initiate a re rating of the stock and get us out of decades of being range bound dead money.
Good video, 2 yrs old next month, 2 yrs of "optimization" and customer feedback...c'mon Michael I'm not gettin any younger, we need a transformational headline at some point that will for once and for all allow LWLG to play in the big leagues. Bases are loaded, all tied up in the bottom of the 9th, step up and hit it out of the park!

AngelTech Virtual Online III Main Event: 12 April 2021. 10am BST (British Summer Time)
Photonics integration will become the future engine many of our products in the next decade
The drive to miniaturization, battery power, high speed, sensing, imaging, and advanced computational processing means that photonic integration will grow, and grow quickly. Cramming discrete, individual components in a small box is going away, in fact, just like lots of transistors in an IC. Integration is key, and with photonics, there are a number of engineering challenges that need to be addressed that range from efficiently working with light, to driving high speed data with very low power consumption.
This years Angeltech LIVE III is the place to be to make sure you are calibrated and knowledgable in the latest work, advancements, and designs in the field of PICs - photonic integrated circuits.
The Sessions
While PIC based photonic integration technologies have grown on the back of optical communications, fiber optics, telecommunications, data communications even data centers and high performance computing, this is only the beginning.
There are now many applications for PICs that go beyond just sending data quickly, with low power, and high integrity: These LIVE III sessions will gather in depth analysis of new growing arenas such as AI, automotive/LIDAR, sensing, bio-medical, industrial, consumer and many others. The expectation is that these new arenas will grow very quickly as they also require miniaturization, low power, high speeds, and of course batter power for portability.

Interesting read re: bitcoin mining...
Tim Bond , partner and portfolio manager at Odey Asset Management, believes bitcoin could prevent society from functioning in an efficient and ethical manner
A portfolio manager at one of London's leading hedge funds has warned that bitcoin, probably the best known cryptocurrency, has no real social utility other than as a tool for speculation and a means to launder the proceeds of crime.
Tim Bond , partner and portfolio manager at Odey Asset Management, also told MarketWatch it was damaging the planet: " To my mind, bitcoin is a particularly vile asset class.
"If bitcoin starts to displace fiat currencies [government-issued currency that is not backed by a commodity], governments' ability to tax, spend and redistribute will be severely impaired."

He believes bitcoin could prevent society from functioning in an efficient and ethical manner.
"In this sense, bitcoin is the spearhead of a particularly extreme form of libertarian anarchism, which is presumably why it is so popular in Silicon Valley ," he said.
Odey Asset Management, which has over $3 billion funds under management, was established in 1991 by billionaire Crispin Odey . Bond said neither he nor it has a holding in bitcoin.
Bitcoin mining is a form of auditing or record-keeping that uses computer processing power. Bond cited a Cambridge University Centre for Alternative Finance calculation (https://cbeci.org/) that bitcoin mining consumes an annual 118.17 TWh of electricity a year.
Read: Bitcoin Is Hitting the Mainstream Even as Its Environmental Toll Mounts (https://www.barrons.com/articles/ bitcoin-is-hitting-the-mainstream-even-as-its-environmental-toll-mounts-51614881052?mod=hp_LEADSUPP_2)
"Bitcoin mining mostly takes place in Asian economies (65% in China ) where the electricity supply is from coal and other fossil fuels," he said. "We can therefore calculate that bitcoin mining produces around 55 million metric tons of CO2 [carbon dioxide] a year, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of Finland and more than the emissions of countries such as Denmark , Sweden and Norway .
"Bitcoin has therefore added CO2 emissions equivalent to the annual output of a medium-sized advanced economy. And as the bitcoin price rallies, so the mining activity will intensify, producing even higher levels of CO2 emissions.
"It is difficult to think of any other human activity that is simultaneously quite so pointless and quite so damaging to the planet."
Last month, electric-car maker Tesla (TSLA) posted a Securities and Exchange Commission filing giving details that it had spent $1.5 billion on bitcoin.

From the same paper...
Microsoft is already talking about the need for optical I/O. For example, at the DARPA ERI Summit 2020, Microsoft Azure Architect Doug Carmean made a case for co-packaged optics and resource disaggregation. He noted that a convergence of factors was driving the needs. On one side, he highlighted “divergent technology scaling trends, and reach and density limitations of copper.” On the other side he highlighted “increasing system density, increasing accelerator specialization, very large-scale system deployment, scale-driven cost pressure and higher power nodes.” Hyperscalers, including Facebook are noticing the same challenges. But whereas Facebook has focused on the Open Accelerator Infrastructure that uses board-level electrical interconnect solutions relying on retimers and pluggable optical interconnects, Microsoft is looking at co-packaged optical solutions that avoid the power, footprint and range restrictions of electrical retimers.
Systems vendors like NVIDIA are also on board. NVIDIA is publicly discussing the importance of accelerating AI systems with optics, noting that the cost-efficient bandwidth and low latency are critical to the success of scale-out systems as compute capabilities improve. In a recent paper, a team from NVIDIA noted that critical communication collectives in ML (such as All-Reduce) already take up 30% of the run-time, even on highly-optimized 16-GPU DGX-2 systems, and that as the GPUs grow more powerful in compute they become more sensitive to off-package bandwidth. NVIDIA believes optical interconnects are the key to overcoming challenges with weak scalability in certain types of workloads.17
Thx for posting Steve, she is one sharp cookie...
Unlocking the True Potential of AI with In-Package Optical I/O
Optimizing optical I/O bandwidth
Building on more than 10 years of research and development, Ayar Labs is a pioneer and the industry leader in optical I/O. Ayar Labs’ TeraPHYTM in- package optical I/O technology is the first solution to enable direct optical communications between key components in AI and ML machines, including GPUs, CPUs, APUs, HBM and pooled memory. The electro-optical approach eliminates bandwidth issues by driving a 100 – 1,000x improvement in interconnect bandwidth density as well as better latency and lower power requirements. With respect to latency, TeraPHY supports end-to-end off- package connections of ~10 ns plus time of flight versus ~100 ns plus time of flight for ethernet. From a power perspective, the technology requires roughly a 10th of the power needed to move a bit of data electrically. It also underpins more flexible systems by enabling innovative disaggregated and distributed architectures.
