Luiz Alvim created the Alvim Alpha. He was from Portugal. I met him in Houston around 1999 over breakfast and had him sign his books. There were four books alone on the Alvim Alpha. He was around 75 years old at that time. Him and his son began a mutual fund for which I forgot the name. Luiz died and his son quit selling books but grew the mutual fund. I never kept up with it.

The Alvim Alpha used divergence data sets within the MACD that fell into a criteria preference and a slope intercept of particular elevations that were found. A user had to be devoted to use the setup. Four books was a lot of reading although only 99 to 190 pages each and $40 a piece. Some of the concepts were lengthy and complicated.

Both Alvims were deep in the development of Telescan, a high tier technical charting platform. I believe the son is VP now or recent history. These guys were king in their day.
