Our Projects

Rabbit South, British Columbia:

  • 1,900 hectare land package between two of British Columbia's most successful copper mines (Afton and Highland Valley)

La Corona de Cobre, Chile:

  • +18,000 hectare land package in coastal belt of Andean Cordillera of Chile on the Atacama Fault Zone("Chilean Iron-Copper Belt")

Summary
La Corona de Cobre

Global Hunter's La Corona de Cobre project is over 15,000 hectares of land located in the Coast Range of the Andean Cordillera, Chile, an area often referred to as the Chilean Iron Belt. The property is on the Pan American Highway, 70-kilometres north of the port city La Serena.

The property is located at the southern end of the Atacama Fault Zone, a north-northeast regional feature that stretches for over 1,000 kilometres and hosts several large copper deposits in Chile including Phelps Dodge's Candelaria (400 million tonnes grading 0.95% copper and 0.2% gold) and Anglo-American's Manto Verde ( 100 million tonnes averaging 0.80% copper) deposits.

Details

  • Consists of at least 15 mineralized shear zones ranging from 10-150 m in thickness and 0.5 to 9.0 km in strike length
  • Only one of the prospective targets has been drill tested
  • Two large iron oxide-copper-gold alteration targets

Global Hunter's La Corona de Cobre hosts a swarm of 15 shear zones ranging from 10 to 150 metres in thickness and from one-half to nine-kilometres in length have been identified on the property.

Las Posadas Shear Zone

The most advanced exploration target on the property is the Las Posadas---a shear zone that has been traced for 2,400 metres in length and averages between 40 and 60 metres in width with copper oxide mineralization identified to an average depth of 140 metres from surface.

Mineral Resource Estimate

Based on 57 drill holes, Las Posadas has the following code compliant mineral resource at $1.61/lb copper with a cutoff of 0.16% copper: (

)

Indicated 8,490,000 tonnes 0.16% Cu 114,900,000 lbs copper
Inferred 4,600,000 tonnes 0.48% Cu 49,400,000 lbs copper

Price sensitivity analysis studies by Micon International indicate that at $2.50 per pound of copper with a cutoff grade of 0.10% copper:

Indicated 14,250,000 tonnes 0.455% Cu 143,000,000 lbs copper
Inferred 9,290,000 tonnes 0.366% Cu 74,200,000 lbs copper

Property Geology

The eastern portion of the property is underlain mainly by lower cretaceous andesites while the western portion of the property is underlain predominantly by granodiorites. The miocene and quaternary gravels cover linear quebradas, or basins mostly trending northerly, concordant with the AFZ. There are generally two types of widespread alteration in that area, a northerly calc-silicate, chlorite-silica, sericite zone and a southern zone of disseminated silica with phyllic alteration. The southern zone has local developments of quartz-hematite veins and stockworks.

IOCG Potential

La Corona de Cobre comprises a sector of the Atacama Fault Zone (AFZ) at the intersection of a major E-W regional fault system. The Tres Cruces Fault zone which runs to the Argentinean Cordillera. The AFZ is a complex of deep fissures that can be traced for 2,000 kilometres along the Coastal Belt. There are numerous intrusives and plugs along the AFZ. The sector from Gran Copiapó to La Serena (350 kilometres) has been called The Iron Belt. The many gashes and structures contain massive iron oxides -- mostly magnetite and specimen specular hematite. These also carry, and are associated, with copper and gold mineralization. These have been mined, selectively, high graded: or in bulk-high volume.

In Phase I of its exploration program, which commenced in October 2005, Global Hunter completed 14 reverse-circulation drill holes totaling 2,838 metres, and five diamond-drill holes totaling 1,046 metres. This drill program was designed to provide additional confidence to the previous drilling conducted on the shear zone and expand the known mineralization.

The results indicated that the high-grade portion of the mineralization had been expanded 150 metres to the south and 50 metres to the north giving a total strike length of 550 metres within the overall mineralized strike length of 1,500 metres. The entire 1,500 metre strike length had been drilled on 50-metre spacing. It was confirmed that Las Posadas is open to both the north and south with drill holes intersecting copper oxide mineralization over a composite strike length of 2,400 metres.

The Company released results from a resource estimate based on current and past results on June 9, 2006. The estimate was prepared by Micon International Limited using a Whittle optimized pit shell at various copper prices. (View NI 43-101 Report)

2006 Resource Estimate

Las Posadas proposed pit looking North

In June of 2006 Global Hunter Corporation announced the results of a completed resource estimate prepared by its independent consultant Micon International Ltd., B. Terrance Hennessey, P. Geo.

  • Resource for Las Posadas shear zone, La Corona de Cobre Project, located 70 kilometres north of La Serena, Chile.

  • Based on Global Hunter's Phase I program of 14 reverse-circulation drill holes totaling 2,838 metres and 5 diamond-drill holes totaling 1,046 metres, and 39 drill holes by previous operators totaling 6829 metres.

  • Comprehensive NI 43-101 technical report detailing the mineral resource pursuant to CIM "Standards on Mineral Resource and Reserves" (View NI 43-101 Report)

  • Estimated using a two-year average trailing price for copper ($1.61 /lb) and a Whittle optimized pit providing a unique cutoff grade for each block.

Mineral Resources: $1.61 /lb copper at a cutoff of 0.16% CuSol:

  • Indicated: 8,490,000 tonnes grading 0.614% Cu Sol (0.73% CuTTL) containing 114,900,000 pounds of soluble copper

  • Inferred: 4,600,000 tonnes grading 0.489% Cu Sol (0.561% CuTTL) containing 49,400,000 pounds of soluble copper

In addition to the base case mineral resource the Company requested Micon to conduct further studies to determine sensitivity to US$2.00, $2.50, and $3.00 copper prices. These results are summarized below:

Sensitivity Analysis: $2.00 /lb copper at a cutoff of 0.13% CuSol:

  • Indicated: 11,980,000 tonnes grading 0.512% Cu Sol (0.629% CuTTL) containing 135,200,000 pounds of soluble copper

  • Inferred: 6,850,000 tonnes grading 0.417% Cu Sol (0.494% CuTTL) containing 62,800,000 pounds of soluble copper

Sensitivity Analysis: $2.50 /lb copper at a cutoff of 0.10% CuSol:

  • Indicated: 14,250,000 tonnes grading 0.455% Cu Sol (0.576% CuTTL) containing 143,000,000 pounds of soluble copper

  • Inferred: 9,290,000 tonnes grading 0.366% Cu Sol (0.440% CuTTL) containing 74,200,000 pounds of soluble copper

Sensitivity Analysis: $3.00 /lb copper at a cutoff of 0.085% CuSol:

  • Indicated: 15,490,000 tonnes grading 0.429% CuSol (0.552% CuTTL) containing 146,500,000 pounds of soluble copper

  • Inferred: 10,470,000 tonnes grading 0.342% Cu Sol (0.423% CuTTL) containing 79,000,000 pounds of soluble copper

NOTE:

Global Hunter and Micon make no predictions as to the future price of copper
Cu Sol = Acid soluble copper, Cu TTL = Total copper.
