Both of those terms crossed my mind.

I thought that D.C. meant the Distric of Columbia…
Not the State of Columbia.
I'll go with your “Mom's Basement” scenario, along with,
of cource, a feeble mind.

Please help me… I'm Canadian.
I always thought that the modern U.S.A. was comprised of 50 states (unless you are a 0 fanatic; then it is 57.)
The guy being interviewed said there were 51 states.
My question: What and where is the 51st state ?
Id
Yeah, Here's Leo at his best...

I used it. No problems noted.
After a reboot, it even removed the white parallelogram.
The only thing I noticed was notifications that new updates were available.
Possibly due to Billie's henchmen at work trying to regain some control of my computer.

Your comment about the possibility of it being ecoterrorism was something I had not considered. It apparently started as a forest fire. I am sure that the authorities have found the source and cause.
Alberta's population is arund three million. Last I heard, unofically, there were 100,000 layoffs. Two relatives are included in that number. A nephew, an engineer, got a 9 month severance package. He already had another job lined up. A Brother in law was the second. His fallback is that he builds high performance engines.
Id
We are all OK.
The fires are in and around Ft. McMurray which is a few hundred miles NNE of Edmonton.
Couple numbers: 90,000 evacuated. 1,900 structures involved / consumed, last I heard.
Rachael Notley, Premier of Alberta, head of the New Democratic Party (Socialsts) accused Brian Jean the leader of the Wildrose (Conservative opposition) party and Member of the Legslature for Ft. McMurray as basically overacting.
Brian simply responded that his home had been burnt to the ground.
No matter how hard ya try, ya kan't fix stooped!

Those guys are Canada's and others' stupidity, liberalism and political correctness etc. (I repeat myself.) foils. They shine the light exactly where light is both well deserved and required.
Should the YouTube link 'disappear', the video commentary will still be on The Rebel's site.

Re: GPM (Catchin up here.)
I know of two acreages (there have to be more) that have 500 gallon water tanks in the basement. These tanks are non-pressurized. The acreages use the tank as the supply via a second pump. Think of this as a reserve for intermittent heavy consumption.
The well pump's job is to keep the tank full and can work even at night (with no cosumption taking place). The main problem would be if the well pump sucks the well down too much. This could be alleviated by 'throtteling' the well pump's output.
Merely a suggestion.

Yeah K², backatcha, good morning to you.

And now, a little levity for your Sunday's enjoyment:
Leonardo DiCaprio, you know that esteemed climate scientist who is an expert on global warming and climate change, was in Calgary shooting a movie.
There, he was “shocked and terrified” when he experienced firsthand extreme global warming / climate change.
Here's the link: (There is a great video commentary there! Please watch it. It explains a lot.)
Note: There couldn't have been eight feet of snow on the ground. The radio said one foot (or less?).

Well, if you watch the movie, That Bum (as I recall) had a shower or bath and a change of clothes before that scene. It was an interesting and somewhat humorous movie.
Coming out of Hollyweird none the less!
Free Stuff RULES!
Yeah, tax the rich and the corporations… that's the ticket.
Only problem is that the rich usually own corporations.
AND the evil corporations raise their prices for their commodities…
So, Who Pays those Taxes in the End?

Nope, none of that crap here that I have heard of.
My mindthink is let them sit out a game, then cancel their freebie scholarships.
How many on a sub .500 team are even going to get a whiff of a NFL tryout?

Joe Pesci, in the movie “With Honors”, on the Constitution: (5:21)
Probably, as per the forecast, this week is sorta kinda safe.
The forecast for today and Monday is for light rain changing to light snow in the evening and overnight. That was the same forecast for last night. We got light rain but no snow. Sometimes I'm glad the weather morons are wrong.
Temps are slightly above normal, but still freezing overnight most of the time.
We usually have some snow at this time of year.
Back in the 80's, one year it didn't snow until just before Christmas. Another, it didn't snow until the evening of New Year's Day.

I have two credit cards and one debit card.
All have the chips and are good for “Tap and Go”. I keep them in a metal container / folder that is supposed to prevent scanners from stealing the codes.
On the backs for the signature, it reads “See Photo ID” then my initials.
Nobody, in any transaction, for many, many years has ever asked for that verification!
I guess I have an honest face.
Id
Hey, a scar is merely a sign of growing up… at least for our age group.
At Christmas, aged 6, my parents bought me my first bike.
Problem was it was an adult male (upper crossbar) bike.
They probably may have not have known that a friend had taught me how to ride such a bicycle by tipping it on an angle and using your second leg under the crossbar. (Perhaps they already knew? Parents are sneaky too!
Our method for two on a bike was that the passenger rode side-saddle on the crossbar. Few had rear carriers.
In winter, we would wrap binder twine (sisal at the time?) over the tires with a wrap between each spoke. Very good traction.
One day, while towing my young sister home on a sleigh on a street from downtown I got stopped by the R.C.M.P. Apparently he deemed it unsafe and made her walk the last block. ? ?
Id
Yeah, and when those athletes (And others like them…) have made fortunes and are turned out onto the streets once their value has dispersed… often are broke, and even become homeless or worse.
Sad.

Well worth the read fer anyone!
Id
Hey, I survived too!
A day or two ago I read a well written piece on 25 (or more) things we did as kids that kids of today would (not necessarily by their parents) get them in trouble for.
Her Daughter, on returning from her first week or so from college told her that her dorm mates generally did not know how to cook (even Kraft Dinner), do laundry, iron clothes etc.
At the end of the piece was the list of the EVIL 25.
I had not accomplished three of them, most notably throwing stones at a snake swimming in a river. Our closest river was ~ 24 miles away.
I guess I had a deprived childhood.
I made up for it in other ways that could be included on that (if expanded) list.

So, you attended airshows as a toddler?
Programmer Son had a brief nap in the stroller during the flying on his first one.
When he was around 3 or 4, on trips to the library, he would browse the children's section then the military area starting with aircraft.
Now he takes his Son to airshows.
The tradition continues.

Kinda OT F-4:
When Operation Desert Storm (Gulf War 1) broke out, we techs at work watched the news conferences and other reports on TV. There was a report that F-4s, AKA “Wild Weasels”, were taking part in the air war. WTF I thought, the F-4s are a Vietnam era fighter / bomber.
What are they doing there?
Our eldest Son (“Programmer Son”), then 12, was an aficionado of all things military so when I got home I asked him about the F-4s. Without me mentioning their operational name, he replied “Wild Weasels” and went on to explain their operation.
His vast knowledge of the military blew me away.
For others here, the Wild Weasels would present themselves as targets to the Iraqi radar. When the radar locked in on them they would fire missiles that locked on to the radar signal, following it in to take out the radar installation.
Brilliant!

Ya know TH, I keep coming back to this post. Many of the 25 I am proud to say that I have done. I am old enuff that most were accomplished in the '50's.
I grew up in a village in Manitoba. Between the ages of 2 to 4 or so, whenever I went “Wandering” throughout the neighborhood, my parents did not go searching for me.
Instead they looked for “Chum” our black Cocker Spaniel. They knew that wherever he was, I was close by. True Story.

Re: Computer Audio
In the living room, my laptop sits on a fan cooler that sits on a stereo receiver.
There is a cord that plugs into the headphone jack and the RCA plugs on the other end plug into the AUX inputs on the receiver. The audio in the computer is set to full with no tone controls or loudness.
The loudness compensation on the receiver is on. I then use the volume control to set the level for the headphones (no speakers).
A desktop in the basement is hooked up similarly but there are two 8” bookshelf speakers and a 12” sub woofer driven by a separate amp.
