Wallbridge Mining Company (TSX:WM) is an established Canadian-based company whose mission is to explore for and develop nickel, copper and platinum group element ("PGE") deposits. Its primary focus is on its large portfolio of properties in the under-explored footwall rocks of the prolific Sudbury Mining Camp, Ontario. Wallbridge's Sudbury area properties include joint ventures with Lonmin Plc, Impala Platinum Holdings and Xstrata Nickel as well as with a number of junior mineral exploration companies. In June 2007, global platinum producer Lonmin Plc acquired 10,800,000 common shares of Wallbridge representing approximately 14% of the then issued and outstanding shares.
Wallbridge recently spun out a new company, Miocene Metals Limited, which was created to acquire all of Wallbridge's BC porphyry copper-gold-molybdenum (Cu-Au-Mo) properties in a transaction modelled after the successful spin-out of its Minnesota copper-nickel-PGE properties into Duluth Metals Limited (TSX:DM). The BC property portfolio includes Wallbridge's Rogers Creek Cu-Au-Mo property plus six other recently acquired properties in Southwestern BC over a newly recognized belt of Miocene-age intrusive rocks which are highly prospective for Cu-Au-Mo mineralization, The properties range from grassroots stage, with known mineral showings, to properties that are almost drill-ready and have returned economic chip and grab sample values and drill intersections over widths of 10's of metres.
Wallbridge Mining is focused on the exploration and development of nickel-copper-platinum group element ("PGE") mineralization within the Sudbury area, one of the world's most productive mining camps. Historic production from Sudbury is in excess of 20 billion pounds of copper, 20 billion pounds of nickel and an estimated 20 to 30 million ounces of platinum group metals. The area continues to show excellent potential for future deposits as new discoveries are constantly being made in previously unexplored areas of the camp. Wallbridge holds the third largest land position in the Sudbury mining camp with properties at various stages ranging from grass roots to advanced exploration and scoping stage.
Wallbridge has 41 properties covering more than 660 km2 in the favourable Sudbury Basin footwall rocks. These properties host favourable geology, yet have never been extensively explored. Footwall rocks of the Sudbury Igneous Complex are important as they contain the majority of copper-gold-PGE deposits found in this mining camp.
Wallbridge's Sudbury Camp Joint Venture "SCJV" with Lonmin Plc continues with an aggressive exploration program. Seven properties covering approximately 220 square kilometres around the Sudbury Basin were explored in 2009 under Wallbridge's Sudbury Camp Joint Venture ("SCJV") with Lonmin Plc. Under the terms of the joint venture, Lonmin can earn a 50% interest in any property at the point at which an Indicated Resource is established on that property with the option to earn an additional 15% interest by funding work through completion of a feasibility study and securing the Wallbridge portion of financing through to commercial production.
Wallbridge continues with it's joint venture agreement with Impala Platinum Holdings, the world's second largest primary platinum producer, on its Parkin Offset Dyke properties.The Impala Parkin Joint Venture properties include 2,150 hectares of strike length along the Parkin Offset Dyke. The dyke hosts the Parkin Resource (43-101 Indicated Resources of 290,928 tons @ 0.70% Cu, 0.65% Ni, 0.03% Co, 0.62 g/t Pt, 0.80 g/t Pd, 0.23 g/t Au and 6.3 g/t Ag; (A. Soever of Watts, Griffis and McOuat, 2002), the Milnet Mine, an historic producer of a reported 157,130 tons @ 1.54% Ni, 1.49% Cu, 2.25 g/t Pt,2.98 g/t Pd and 0.33 g/t Au) and the high-grade Brady showing,which channel sampled 1.2% Cu, 0.6% Ni, 9.2 g/t Pt, 4.3 g/t Pd and 1.5 g/t Au over 2.7 metres. The Parkin Impala Joint Venture was signed in 2008 with Impala Platinum Holdings, the world's second largest primary platinum producer. The Parkin Offset Dyke Joint Venture properties include Wallbridge's 100% owned Milnet Mine property, Wallbridge's Parkin Xstrata property, which is 98.5% owned by Wallbridge,and the Champion Bear Parkin Joint Venture property. Under terms of the joint venture, Impala will spend $5 million over three years to earn a 50% interest in the properties with Impala having the option to increase its interest to 65% by funding a Feasibility Study and securing Wallbridge's portion of the development funding through to commercial production on a project loan basis.
