Buying...
The chart looks like a dream.
This stock has potential to be HUGE!
I owned UVIH at .04 and sold it before it went back up to where it is today. Not happening again! VTAI could get turned around within a few years.

Hawaii Subsidiary Seems Profitable......
The shame of this is that a profitable local company that employs 22 is being dragged down by problems occurring elsewhere. Vesta bought HIG in 1995 from the state, which earlier took it over because of losses it sustained from 1992's Hurricane Iniki.
Fukeda said the company still had the assets and reinsurance to meet claims. Reinsurance policies providing up to $200 million of coverage will expire at the end of this month, but are expected to be renewed, he said. "We have enough funding for day-to-day claims and reinsurance to cover catastrophes," he said.

Based in Birmingham, Vesta (Other OTC: VTAI.PK) had been working to sell off some of its subsidiaries and otherwise improve its financial condition.

Sagicor USA purchases life insurance company
Tampa Bay Business Journal - October 3, 2005
http://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/stories/2005/10/03/daily8.html
Sagicor USA Inc. has completed its acquisition of American Founders Life, the life insurance operations of Vesta Insurance Group Inc.
The acquisition, valued at $57.5 million, gives Sagicor a strong presence in the U.S. insurance market, a release said.
AFL is a licensed insurer in 41 states and the District of Columbia, a licensed reinsurer in 45 states and a third-party administrator in all 50 states.
Tampa-based Sagicor USA's acquisition of AFL brings the group's total assets to $3.1 billion. Its parent, Sagicor Financial Corp. is based in Barbados and offers financial products and insurance. It has been in operation for more than 160 years and operates in 22 countries including the United States and Panama, with significant market presence in Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and the Eastern Caribbean, a release said.
what I've found doing the search is that the Texas subsiaries have just started making profits ...need to do the search again and will post the link here...
And you won't receive anything from IR because he is out of the country til next week.
Right now it looks like a bounce play and how much more bounce is the question. I plan on talking to IR next week and if he can give some insight as to their future plans, this may be one to stake a long term claim in, imo.
Are only the Texas subsidiaries under rehabilitation? do you know how many subsidiaries are out there nationwide? I haven't received a response to my email questions from IR...
LOL.... Beats me!!! I didn't have that much time to talk to him.. should be able to talk a little longer this week. He did say that after he seen the price,, he's getting in..
I agree I think the hurricanes had some impact on this,, but Not that much.. I know some of the bigger insurances companys around here on the gulf coast was talking about leaving,, but the state of Texas told them they are basically not going anywhere.. I don't know how all of it played out, but I know that Farmers got put in it's place real quick. I also agree this could be a GOOD Play IF the company is reorganinzing.
I would venture to say it IS Very heavly shorted!!!
$9-$12 pps? where did he get the valuation?
I think it's heavily shorted...hoping they report the short position on the 26th
It is a combination of things. This stock has been on a steady decline sine the late 90's when it traded as high as $37. 2002 it got back up to $13 and then continued downward. The 4 hurricanes that hit Fla 2 years ago may have been a death blow as it was in the $4-5 range and then continued to slide. Since AM Best has dropped their rating again, it will be even harder to maintain their premium income. They have tried to sell some of their subsidiaries with no luck. The state of Texas has taken over control of their companies there. All of this is covered in the PRs.
The IR rep is out til next week. If they have a reorganization plan, this may be a good play, but at this time it looks like it is dying, imo.
I talked to my friend a little while ago about this, and he says he knows the company, and has NO Idea for the price here.. he says this should be tradein in the 9-12 dollar range.. LOL... hey,,, I'm for that!!! He is looking up some special dates for me.. I want to find out what made the stock drop big time at the places you see on the chart. I too am going to start looking to see if this is plain NSS due to the fact of No Interest.. I have a feeling it is...

Let it ride baby! eom
Started buying last week at 0.014 after reading your post. Wish I'd have bought way more.
Sorry,on the road and I have lost my laptop adapter so not much online time available.
I share your concerns, but this is penny land. This could be a good momentum play if she starts to get noticed, which appears to be happening.

why is bloomberg showing an ask of .09?
when did you buy?
I'm still not sure whether ONLY Texas subsidiaries are under rehabilitation or that those subsidiaries represent most of VTAI holdings
I did a search on VTAI and it showed over $600M in revenues plus the fact that those subsidiaries for sale are making profits --makes me wonder why they're having trouble selling those
Well that sure didn't cut n' paste too well, here's the link:

I'll be happy if it tests 50 dma at .14
Hey Lifegear,
I honestly thought it would probably keep falling, but with the potential assets & value they have I couldn't resist a little speculation.
I think it was one of your posts over on Hunchtrades that brought it to my attention (thanks bty). Did seem very under the radar and worth a few bucks, I turned down a trip to Vegas next weekend, so what the heck, I figure I'm already up money.
Have a good weekend.

1 left at .015 ask?
Up 15% so far, over 600k shares traded. I'll take that kinda "slow" day anytime, especially with the Mid East news and so much of the market down.
Just my 2 cents worth, or a whole Vesta share.
Goota be a big catch somewhere, but I don't see it, so I bought a few k today.
it's been a slow day for VTAI..hohummm
No matter what the problems are with this company, it does not justify a fall like that. Even the worst scams trades higher. Just placed my buy orders for vtai. I smell money to be made here.
This is going to be something worth putting a couple of bucks into, WITHOUT and DD... LOL.. but If I find out anything soon, I'll be posting it.. There has got to be a reason for this to be .013... The only thing I can see right now is no one interested, and the MMs have brought it down on that,, and could of been shorting it all the way down here too... I wander if the company knows it PPS is at this level.. I think a few calls needs to be made, and not just to the IR guy.. I think a letter to the BOD or CEO would be something to consider, if these guys don't have a clue.. If they do have a clue, maybe they can be UP front with their answers...
Yo! Yo! You can count me in! Charts looks good. RSI is 20 way oversold.

What was the highest pps it traded at? Have they maintained the share structure or have they diluted it down?
early retirement if it hits $44? lol
Could be a nice retirement play. That is basically what I look for here. Not that making 10-50% is bad, but I don't need extra to pay the bills. I'm looking for early retirement. Stocks like this can offer up that type of opportunity. Anything I can come up with I will let you know.
who knows..could be shorted
I have been too busy to do much research here but will read and dig this weekend. Definitely worth looking at? Why the fall all the way to the pinks? And to .014? That is one hell of a fall, but leaves alot of room to run back up.
they are trying to sell certain subsidiaries that were placed under rehabilitation in texas--it doesn't affect normal operations according to news
Thanks. I was planning on contacting IR myself. I can't say I have seen a stock with any more potential than this one. Need to find out the rest of the story to know for sure.
