VMC PSL 3 Indexes

Commentary: We have numerous indexes to present this contest, actually many more then the last contest. So without further ado let me give a brief explanation of them. The The Top 22 Index is made up of all stock being picked at least 5 times in the contest, this index is equally weighted. The Top 250 Index, is also equally weighted, and measures the average performance of all the stocks picked in this contest (Our stock universe). The Average Portfolio Return, measure the average performance of the 89 portfolios. These indexes or averages should be familiar to everyone, as I have presented these in past contest(s).

Now new indexes to be presented: Average Wildcard Index this index measures the average performance of the 42 wildcards chosen in the contest, this index is equally weighted. Average Non Wildcard Index This index measures the average performance of the 208 non-wildcard entries, and this index is also equally weighted as well. Average Wildcard Index (Weighted Average) this index only difference from the Average Wildcard Index is this index uses a weighted average approach. What This basically means is there are 47 units in this portfolio, obviously the majority of stock only have 1 unit, but a stock like ERHE.ob has 3 units because it was picked 3 times in the contest. Average Non Wildcard Index (Weighted Average) this index only difference from the Average Non Wildcard Index is this index uses a weighted average approach. What this basically means is there are 481 units in this portfolio, obviously the majority of stock only have 1 unit, but a stock like EZM is weighted much more heavily and has 23 units because it was picked 23 times in the contest. Finally, we get to the Average Portfolio (Original) the only difference between this index and the average portfolio return is it excludes the impact of transactions, meaning if no one could make transactions (Which is obviously not the case) this would be the average portfolio return. Team Championship:

Well, it is unofficial, but I show Team 2 winning today by about 0.4% - which would mean about 0.6% for the week. However, keep in mind that I only know what SSK tells me to know (Baaaahhhhh) and I haven't been told what I know yet. Once I get told what I know, then I will know enough to learnt the rest of ewes. Then, and only then, does it become oh facial.

Yes--they have some presence along the Gulf Coast. They were a major provider of "blue roof" emergency roofing after Katrina last year. ADDL is basically a commercial roofing company with a "kicker" in that they can mobilize resources for services needed after hurricanes. Their core business is actually doing pretty well but no one buys ADDL for that. It is a stock goes up and down with hurricane fears and likelihood.

THREE CONTESTANTS DISQUALIFIED:

Three previously unknown contestants on PSL3 became ineligible and were disqualified shortly after the contest began. Don't confuse these three with the honorary contestants. We all know them and they were just late.

The three were Chinabull, bbbbbbbbbbb and Beat_the_sheep. All three identities were created just a couple days before the deadline - at about the same time. Two of the three were back to back new posters on IHUB. Unquestionably, IMO, they were bogus attempts by someone else in the contest to have multiple opportunities to win. In any event, all three were booted from IHub. The rule in the Ibox says that anyone who is not in good standing with IHub is not eligible for any PSL awards.

As it turns out, they didn't do very well anyway. However, just to make sure (in the future) some bogus entry doesn't end up winning the overall or winning the tourney or being a member of the winning team - or even dragging down the average, we reserve the right to not allow anyone into the contest if they appear suspicious. We have a specific set of standards that we will use, but anyone who has been around for awhile will happily be accepted into PSL4.
