I dont get camping LOL we were too poor as kids to go. Imagine too poor to camp LOL Reality is we were busy playing sports I think. I recall exactly once as akid with my parents.

note: I had a cottage until my kids were a teenager but that was fully winterized 3 bedroom we sold it to a couple who moved in as theor year round home so was not camping LOL

13 years old we went away for provincial baseball championships. we were put in 2 giant wigwams and kid next to me pissed himself and I pitched final game and we lost. The as a 17 year old had to tent at a provincial golf tourney as it was in middle of nowhere and no hotels. It rained like hell also slept in car. went 78 89 I think and missed cut. Never been in a tent since.

I really do not get these campgrounds. I have friends living in giant 4 bedroom 3 bath 4000 square foot homes and on Friday them back the 100k truck up to the 40 foot camper and haul it to some campground where you park 6 feet away from some rando. Your bathroom in camper is smaller than an airline one and you could have yahoos all around you.

Not for me but I might try this glamping thing- domed luxurious cabins with hot tubs. quite the trend lately. Not sure if they have room service

I was quite the outdoorsman. went to cub camp or whatever is before scouts with my son. it was a blizzard. Bunk beds in the cabins were disgusting and guy next bunk was father of 4 was just happy to just have 1 for the night and snoring like hell. Noone had any booze ( except me in my truck).

One leader was camping in small tent outside to prove something. I drove 15 minutes away and got a hotel room came back at 8 am for breakfast with a Coffee. I dont thing I embraced the concept very well.

I was watching the news tonight and near the end was a public interest piece.

Some guy that takes kids out into the forest to explain nature, I thought he was taking them on a camping trip.

So he's explaining stuff about the forest and my wife says she can see me doing that. I said me too.

Right about this time the guy starts showing the kids how to hack down trees. WTF?

So they hack down a bunch of young trees to build a lean-to.

AND THEN, they take turns posing in the thing to take pictures, AND THEN, they leave.

It was just an afternoon excursion.

I started out thinking it was about low impact camping, turned out to be high impact destruction of nature.
