Is there any one here? We were share holders a few years ago. Took profits and moved on. Now considering buying back in since the Chinese possibility to reduce or cut off supplies seems to be intensifying.

Lynas expansion iced by Malaysian regulators

Rare earth miner and processor, Lynas, said today it was unsuccessful in obtaining Malaysian regulatory approval for an increase in the lanthanide concentrate processing limit for Calendar Year 2019 (CY19).

The company said it intends to reapply.

"The regulator has provided Lynas with a list of additional reports and management plans that the regulator now requires in order to reconsider the application. The processing limit resets on 1 January each year, and Lynas intends to reapply for an increase for CY20," wrote the company in a news release.

On Friday Lynas said it intends to submit a tender to build a rare earth separation plant in the United States after the U.S. Department of Defense called for proposals to help it secure a domestic supply of strategic metals.

Lynas is the world's only rare earth processor outside of China.

Yes, refining the REMs is very process intensive and can leave radioactive tailings that have to be dealt with. (The rare earth deposits are often accompanied by thorium as well.)

The Mountain Pass mine in California is an exception, it has a high grade rare earth ore body that doesn't contain thorium. The company that owns it, MpMaterials, is privately held though. (If they have an IPO any time soon I'll likely invest it, and I normally stay far away from IPOs.) When MpMaterials acquired the Mountain Pass assets they also got a processing facility that they are currently rehabbing. So soon, the U.S. will have two rare earth processing plants to go along with the one operating mine.

It's looking promising on the 30 minute chart. All of these new buyers are getting their stop loss orders triggered.
The question now becomes; if it fills the gap, just how low will it go?

That's what I'm counting on. This thing is currently being driven by the news cycle, which has a very short memory. I'm hoping to buy back in cheap before the next round of trade war saber rattling.
I think that there's a good chance that the Chinese will make good on their threat.

I had to take profits, it would have been foolish not to. (I was up 28%.) If this gives up these gains I'll jump right back in.

This is a good company even without a trade war. They have a lengthy investor presentation on their website that's worth looking in to. (It's from about 5 days ago.)

I should have taken profits too, but was asleep at the wheel. I still have both, and will likely add to both this week.
This trade war with China is a technological one, and I don't think we've seen the last of the REM cutoff threat.
Look back in time 8 or 9 years to the time when they ceased exporting REM to Japan, that was quite the play at the time, and it could easily do that again. (If not more so.)
Risk/Reward here makes this a no-brainer to me.

For a long time I have been wondering if the Chinese government is behind much of the Lynas criticism. LYS is the only real competitor to China and they would love to have a monopoly. I'm surprised someone has not recognized this situation. I'm also surprised some large firm with Malaysian influence has not tried to buyout Lys. This has enormous potential and is a national security interest for several countries. Any comments

I noticed that your charts had them in the gold mining sector, but growth is obviously coming from magnets, so was thinking of them as more of a REE play. Like I said, just starting to research and follow.

As for patterns/technical's, I'm seeing a hopeful Island Reversal, which has just developed over the last couple weeks and a MACD reversal, but volume needs to start showing institutional interest. Also seeing LT Trend line resistance and those SMA's. Maybe a pullback to the 1.40's on a gap fill would be healthy.

Sometimes I just get a stack of charts and flip through them to see if my eyes can pick out some good ones that are not easy to scan for. LYSCF was one that I saw the chart looking through a list of gold stocks trying to see if anything stood out.

It's nice to be able to just turn all the computers off and trade just by walking up to the chart without indicators or anything. Sort of like having an ultimate backup method.

This one has an inverted head and shoulders bottom and is about to break out over it with a bull flag.

These patterns are some of the most accurate and reliable known so I am always on the lookout for them. It is purely chart technician related and has nothing to do with knowing about anything about the company.
