The "Paige of Spades"...by her lonesome with acoustic guitar now has a gig at the Palms every other Friday from 7 to 9...
well sorta...ina stepchild way...My mom married into the family when I was 4..I was raised as a Wills..My Uncle John David played the strip for a living..he played every musical instrument that he could get his hands on. My dad grew up on the road traveling with the band..as a kid he moved all over as they played the towns..and cities moving out to Vegas and California to be in the pictures.
The first time that Willie Nelson played at Ceasers Palace he pulled my Grandpa on the stage..they had summer parties at Waylen Jennings House...but that was a long time ago..I figured what the heck...I'll post a few now and again over here.
REALLY?? Yall Kin to the WILLS??

Vegas’ Best 2009
The Weekly’s annual list of what’s really important— with a bunch of your own choices thrown in
http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/news/2009/may/21/vegas-best-2009/
Hi!! S.T.W. .....now that I have looked at the date..you most likely have already been here... but if you haven't......
Breakfast is a hard one...
Sunday Brunch would be the only difference if any at all.. Because..Any buffet on the Strip is gonna be good...
Except the Circus Circus..but I have to say their Steak House is Excellent and very Reasonable...kinda looks like Old Cowboy Glam..Red Leather booths and Dark Red Walls with the Chefs cooking the Steaks in the Middle of the Restaurant..a Very good dining experience everytime we have went...
If you want a dinner or a late lunch that will put you in an ambulance...lol
We have been going to a Brazilian Steak House on Las Vegas Blvd. (also called the Stip)..which happens to be next to Fry's just a little past the Luxor.
..If you sign up on line you will receive 25% off of your first meal (up to 8 people)... Lunch is around $35.00 and Dinner $50.00 per person. They have 15 different Meats and a Salad Bar that is fit for a KING..Lobster Bisque is the House
Soup..Of course the meal is entertaining cuz these guys swarm around you 3 to 4 at a time with all their different Meats on skewers..It's fun and a great place for business as well as Special Occasions..
Here's the link if your interested....
http://www.texasdebrazil.com/
Actually the whole Town Square that the Restaurant is at is very nice and has lots of great restaurants as well as great happy hours from Martini Bar Restaurants to Wine Restaurants very-very up town for Vegas...lol.. No one here can believe we have such a nice place...So that would be a great place to find a few eats.
Also since you didn't ask..lol but I thought I'd mention it..the Show... "Love" is one of the best shows on the strip. Not a bad seat in the house.
When we eat breakfast on the Strip we always go to the Peppermill..that's right off of Convention Center Lane or Street..but on the Strip...a 60's vintage style ambiance...
The lounge is real cool also..I don't think they have changed the decor since I was in highschool with fake ID in hand getting in there with my Boyfriend..lol again
...I hope you have a great time in Las Vegas...if you haven't been to the Hardrock...It's a great place to visit..Santana is opening there..and my kid Paige with the Clydesdale Band will be playing at the Wasted Space.. a bar inside the Hardrock..on the 13th of June at 9:00..and thank gawd it's at 9:00.
It is nice that you've come out of hibernation...Glad your posting again..although I was gonna drop you a joke on the board you post on sometimes...yeah.. I checked up on you...
Hey!.. I'm nosey what can I say...lol
If you need any more info I can give ya what I know...just don't ask me about gambling..lol..
I've lived here since 58 and never have played Craps Roulette and have only played Blackjack about 4 or 5 times..The most gambling I have ever done has been with this stock..and I know it's a gamble..but it's been a lota fun and a great learning experience...
Paige, list 2 good breakfast buffets for your $ in vegas.
tia
Excellent...keep making musical waves!!

The Clydesdale
When I lived out in Las Vegas, I’d drop anything to go see the Clydesdale play what they like to refer to as “Punk Country”. The brash delivery, the on-stage banter, the foot stomping rhythms and the wailing guitars, not to mention the truly incredible voice of front lady Paige Overton. (She’s the one with the 12 gauge up your nose.) It always felt like the perfect soundtrack for a night in a down town dive bar, hard liquor and the desert just out side the door.
While they have to be seen live to truly be appreciated, you can get a feel for the sound at www.myspace.com/theclydesdale .
The band have released 2 CD’s to date. The second, ‘Dia De Los Muertos’ (day of the dead) eclipsing the first by a long stretch in terms of song writing and audio quality. The $8 price tag on the myspace page is well worth it.

Neon Reverb Downtown Music Festival
A couple hours later and five blocks away, the festival’s success was equally evident in the locals filling in empty spaces at The Bunkhouse. A circle of listeners sat cross-legged around the stage like a kindergarten class at story time, looking up as local cow-punk outfit The Clydesdale crafted country campfire tales and love songs with all the grit and swagger of the Old West.
“You better say your hellos/You better say your goodbyes/Last thing your gonna see tonight is that big old black sky,” Lead singer Paige Overton snarled into the microphone. “You better find a lucky star/you better pick the right one/’cause I hate to tell you my prayers have been answered and your time is done.”
and......
As The Clydesdale stomped, strummed, crooned and hollered, it was easy to feel the oft over-analyzed local music scene rallying around the new festival and its simple message - the same message Overton vocalized perfectly midway through The Clydesdale’s set when she turned to lead-guitarist Andrew Karasa and spoke in her classic deadpan.
“Quit talking; start playing.”

Earlier this year, Zia Records released a 20-track compilation called You Heard Us Back When, which featured bands from Las Vegas, Phoenix and Tucson (the three cities with Zia outposts). Locals such as The Clydesdale and Big Friendly Corporation nabbed a spot on the comp and subsequently were signed by Interscope Records to multimillion-dollar contracts.
OK. That didn’t happen — that is, the signing and the million-dollar contract part. It’s hard to say how those bands benefited from their inclusion on the CD, but You Heard Us… did sell out and that means a lot of people now knew those bands’ music.
So, enterprising and exposure-hungry local musicians, it would behoove you to submit in person an original song for Volume 2 (no later than August 31). Not only will you have the ears of music fans here and in Arizona, should you win a spot on the comp, but you’ll have the heart of a Good Samaritan, as some of the album’s proceeds will go to non-profits pushing for music education in school.
And for you non-musicians who just want to sample some Southwestern flavors, the disc is likely to come out in October.
For information, visit www.ziarecords.com.

In addition to the cars, there are some bands playing?
There’s four bands … one of them is The Clydesdale. They’re from Las Vegas.
The Clydesdales? Those are the horses, right?
Yeah, but this is singular, not plural. Just The Clydesdale. And they’re an incredibly talented, almost B-western, Spaghetti Rockabilly band with original lyrics and a high-powered woman vocalist. … I have a lot bands and book all my own music, and this is probably in the top 10 percent of great bands. … Also, The Mighty Surf Lords are playing—and that’s surf guitar music. Then a band called the Xenophobes. … They’re psychobilly. And then there’s going to be a solo performance from Leslie Swift, formerly of Shockbox.
Are the other bands local?
The Mighty Surf Lords are local. I would consider the Xenophobes local, but I think they’re from Fernley. But to me, that’s still local.
That’s pretty local.
The only ones that are from out-of-town is The Clydesdale, and I feel privileged that a band like that even considered coming here. I have had that ability to bring certain bands here from out of town, and when people come to hear them they’re just sort like, “Whoa.” And this is a no-cover event … there’s going to be a barbecue put on.

Sheries
A women in her right mind knows when to call it a night
And if I left, I'd never caught the sight
Of a tall shadowed man justa walkin my way
And when he walked on by I just had to stay
He offered me a drink and I politely refused
I got the feeling it was me he came to pursue
With his slicked back hair and his dark denim jeans
When he kissed me my old heart just split at the seams
Well I talk and you drink and I tell you what I think
I ain't going home with you
Well you tell me that's alright, can you stay a little longer tonight
So that's exactly what we do
Why not wait up for the sun for another hour or two
You tell me I've got some patients and I slip on a smile
For a Man like you I can wait quite a while
You tell me we'll just lay on top of the sheets
I told you I wouldn't go I wouldn't get any sleep
You tell me some day Baby I'm gonna make you my old lady
Tonight Can we go to my place
Every bone every limb it was yearning for him
I couldn't even look him in the face
My blood was a pumping and my heart started to race..
OT..

AT last a guy has taken the time to write this all down
Finally , the guys' side of the story
( I must admit, it's pretty good)
We always hear 'the rules'
From the female side
Now here are the rules from the male side
These are our rules! Please note... they are all numbered '1' ON PURPOSE !
1. Men are NOT mind readers.
1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be !
1. Crying is blackmail.
1. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one! Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it!
1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.
1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for .
1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become Null and void after 7 Days.
1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.
1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.
1. You can either ask us to do something. Or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.
1. Whenever possible, Please say whatever you have to say during commercials.
1. Christopher Columbus did NOT need directions and neither do we.
1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not A color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. ! ; We have NO idea what mauve is.
1. If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that.
1. If we ask what is wrong and you say 'nothing,' We wil l act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.
1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, Expect an answer you don't want to hear.
1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine... Really!
1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball or golf.
1. You have enough clothes.
1. You have too many shoes.
1. I am in shape. Round IS a shape!
1. Thank you for reading this. Yes, I know I have to sleep on the couch tonight; But did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.
Pass this to as many men as you can - to give them a laugh.
Pass this to as many women as you can - to give them a bigger laugh !
