Man, Irene has an eiri timing forcast for being near New York on Monday morning the 29th of August showing in some individual model runs tonight...
Katrina made landfall on Monday morning the 29th of August in 2005 east of New Orleans...And the worst destruction came from water displaced to where it didn't need to go...
Hurricane Katrina review...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Katrina
The cone timing is showing an expected increase in speed of Irene which may be the difference from models reviewed tonight...LJ
Isn't Obama vacationing in Martha's Vineyard right now?
Used to be WEGI's area... When there was a WEGI, lol.
Fox News reported that Irene could affect 80 million people
18Z GFDL and 12Z ECMWF (probably the two best forcasting models) are both forcasting major hurricanes hitting at or near NYC in 100 hours. If these models continue to predict this that first move on monday will be nothing in comparision to this fridays move.
Looking more and more like a East coast event now - NYC NJ MA all in the thick of things. the areas should begin prepping no later than friday IMO.
Models still suggesting CAT 2 Hurricane in those areas
Hurricane Irene on the way to East Coast USA. Go to Sams Club, True Value, Brookstone, Costco, Office Depot,Container Store and others and buy up those CHDO Eco-i-Lites for Safety and Hurricane Preparation.I bought another 2 pack at Sam's Club. Really nice products. They can save lives. Get them while they last!

Hurricane stocks look to be basing here now and starting to turn back up. Look for the 2nd leg up as Irene continues to trek towards NYC. Seriously looks like the entire east coast may be a serious storm
Gotta love these prices..By Monday will be a rocket..IMO
Will see a penny easy before it's all over.
littlejohn: The current track I can live with, because the Delmarva Peninsula would get tropical force winds from the left side of the hurricane. So far, Irene has not been fickle. Hope she stays that way!
Irene effects up the East coast may worsen if the center of the current projection is close...If the eyewall passes along the outerbanks of North Carolina and stayed on a more northern track after that...
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/143914.shtml?5-daynl#contents
Cat 4 expected to be reached for Irene but intensity should drop some as it moves north...LJ
cargo_hauler: PDGE That stock is another blast from my portfolio's past! I don't think Irene is going to be a problem for Florida.
PDGE - asking .0045 - wonder if it runs to pennyland on Hurricane MOMO?
littlejohn: Thanks. This is getting interesting now.
The models in the link in the I-box have come more into agreement this evening...
http://moe.met.fsu.edu/tcgengifs/
under hour click on the time like 90 hours out and hit submit for a fixed picture...
Most are now about center of the 5 day cone or maybe a touch west...
But to put the possibility of a cat 1 going up the Cheasapeake Bay in perspective...
About the equivalent of cat 6 to 8 went thru Joplin, Tuscaloosa, and other towns hit by large F5 tornadoes...
You can manage it if you take precautions and lower risks like from falling trees or surge in low lying areas...
Meant to make you feel better not worse about the waiting game of watching...LJ
CHDO Eco-i-Lites in Sams Club Nationwide
CHDT Corp-Eco-i-Lite Hits the Floor of National Warehouse Club Chain
DEERFIELD BEACH, FL--(Marketwire - Aug 2, 2011) - South Florida-based Capstone Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of CHDT Corp. (OTCBB: CHDO), has announced the arrival of their Eco-i-Lite 6LED Power Failure Light at a National Warehouse Club Chain for the fourth year in a row. The product has received many positive reviews from Club members since the program's inception, which has continually contributed to its return to the sales floor.
Eco-i-Lite's design, sustainability and multi-functional features as a power failure light, nightlight and handheld light remain as appealing as always -- the use of Induction Charging technology, rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and 6 energy-efficient LEDs continue to represent money-saving alternatives to the consumer, as no batteries or bulbs need to ever be replaced. Its environmentally-friendly packaging, however, now comes with an updated look, to follow the same clean, modern lines of the product.
"We are very pleased with the results and growth of the Eco-i-Lite program within the Chain and proud to see the product on the sales floor again," stated Reid Goldstein, President of Capstone Industries. "The significant sales volume enjoyed by the Club confirms the item accurately responds to a real consumer need," he added. "We look forward to continuing to receive valuable feedback and new stories about how Eco-i-Lite has helped families, businesses and individuals around the country during emergencies," concluded Goldstein.

littlejohn: Irene I knew this was going to happen. When they heard toward the Gulf, they keep moving and are relatively more predictable. The Atlantic storms creep move like molasses in winter. There is a lot of loose talk in Central Maryland about it coming up the Chesapeake Bay. We'll have a much better picture at this time tomorrow evening.
Dynamic shot tonight of winds feeding Irene from all points south...Irene looks like a vacuum...
And the ridge just above to the northwest that is expected to move east enough to allow Irene to turn north..LJ
http://tropic.ssec.wisc.edu/real-time/windmain.php?&basin=atlantic&sat=wg8&prod=wvir&zoom=&time
More models have North Carolina on Saturday afternoon being a potential target about 4 days out...Which could still leave points north and northeast in the pecking order on land...Intensity of cat 3 projected doesn't seem to have any environmental problems unless wind shear comes into play later...
South Carolina may still be due north of an approaching cane as it turns...
The following 2 models have been way apart until now...And could still change some...

A lot off the old ones like WEGI and ECCI are done, so that should bring more volume to the survivors.
Yea, they all run when a true hurricane strike is imminent.
Nice! I bought a little NSMG, but it hasn't done much yet. Looks like Irene could go for the OBX-NYC double punch.

Chdt Corporation (OTCBB:CHDO)
Intraday Stock Chart
Today : Tuesday 23 August 2011
Irene is named the first major Atlantic hurricane of the 2011 Season, threatening to hit the Southeastern region of the U.S. late this week and possibly becoming a category 3 hurricane by Thursday morning. Residents in the area are being advised by the authorities to stock up on preparedness items as emergency situations such as power outages are very likely to happen. The South-Florida based subsidiary of CHDT Corporation (OTCBB: CHDO), Capstone Industries, has for years now made available through its retail partners, a line of Multi-function LED Power Failure Lights that turn on automatically when electricity fails. This year, the Company again hopes to help consumers during possible natural disasters such as Irene by making the Eco-i-Lite products available through Hardware Stores, Office Supply Stores, Online Catalogs, Specialty Retailer Stores and Warehouse Clubs.
One of the collection's most remarkable features is its multi-functionality, allowing the products to be used for different purposes, which is helpful when power and other resources might be unavailable or scarce. The Eco-i-Lites sit in their own Induction Charging base that has no metal connectors. This way, they are charged and ready when an emergency occurs. They may also be removed effortlessly from their base to function as a handheld light that lasts up to 7 hours.
With LEDs that are always cool to the touch and over five times more efficient at one third of the energy cost of regular incandescent bulbs, Eco-i-Lite is not only a storm-preparedness necessity but also a money-saving alternative as the products never require batteries to be purchased or replaced. Therefore, the line fully complements the modern household, introducing bold designs to any room or workspace, while providing safety and security to the consumer.
The Company has received numerous letters, phone calls and e-mails from end users of the items, telling of how the lights have made their lives easier and safer. The Eco-i-Lite has even saved the life of one customer from the grips of a raging flood that left her stranded in the darkness as she was able to attract the attention of rescue teams with the Eco-i-Lite's flasher setting.
"Eco-i-Lites have become very popular throughout the country as storm-prep items," said Reid Goldstein, President of Capstone Industries. "Through the use of technology, we have offered peace of mind during emergency situations, when it often becomes challenging to complete even ordinary tasks such as finding your way out of a room," continued Goldstein. "Because of the upcoming storm, retailers currently carrying Eco-i-Lite in the threatened area, expect a significant sell-through in the next few days," he concluded.

I'm not going to bother because ETrade makes you call it in, but ADDL might be one to consider. Market cap is less than $150k! Looks like they might be going through a merger, too.
littlejohn: Thanks for the update. There would be some pretty big gusts on the left side of a Cat 4 100 miles out. Lots of business for roofers.
I've been bidding .005 for NSMG since the open with no bites yet.
