I have played 40 plus years and never seen an Alligator. HUMMMM maybe because My course is under a foot of snow right now LOL
I still love watching that clip where the PGA player from Texas just walks up and swats the gator in the tail after the other player went running like a scared schoolgirl.
Now I have seen a few on the florida courses -
blackcat thank you, Well- we do not have many alligators in WA.
I don't platy golf, but there is a nice course just a ways from my
house and I often walk it. never seen an alligator.
Now bears- that's a different story.....
Yes, the alligators migrate further up to north and be in places
never seen before and that's when surprise attacks and accidents
can happen -

cheers. WE just combine it all and they are all rangs
I don't know that we have a name for the "Rang" but we do it. As for the unique low score on a hole we just call that "skins". There is usually a separate pot for the skins because not everyone wants to do that.
What do you all call rang game in the states?
Its a Nassau style game but most would not know that term up north. WE have a sign up sheet 2 days a week $10 entry normally 30-40 guys in it. WE call it a "Rang" game
Low Net Front back B and Total
Low gross
and anyone who is unique low score on any hole
all of above can be cut and cannot win both LG and LN
Then we have a few a year for $50 or $100
Now at same time we almost always have a team match within the foursome
Had a chance to be Tampa area this week with a buddy who has a place on a course similar to our home course ( Donald Ross designs). BUT flights were not cooperating with my required return of noon friday. WE closed up today and hit 38 degrees and sunny but I didnt make it
I had 3 hour lessons the last 2 days...at 9am it was 37 one day and 46 the other with 15 mph wind. I HATE the cold!
People traveled in from Md and Penn so I couldn't just cancel and reschedule.
You'll have to go to Fla now to play!
HUMM course closes at the end of the day. its frost delay for the 4 groups I see on the tee sheet but it is getting up to 36 or possibly 37 this afternoon. I have not played in two weeks. I am actually thinking about it LOL - with some sort of belly warming alcohol such as Fireball whiskey or a big coffee and baileys
LOL well I cant shoot my age unless it has a windmill on one of the holes but I have lots left to do. However my low last year was only 13 off my age - It truly is a goal in life - shoot my age.
- still playing golf
- still good
- still healthy enough to play
- can still afford to play
Not much else on my bucket list
Hole in hole obviously - I play too conservative - I shoot for middle of green. I have to go pin seeking especially given that my hole in one club no winners this year so far and $5k up for grabs if only one winner
30 players x$100 an entry with $2k carry over from last year
Shot my age this year too...all I need now is an albatross and I can quit.
5??? whatttttttttttttttt
I was playing last week when a guy in my group hit the flag twice on the same shot we think. It was dancing all around it and ended up 3 inches away - It would of been his 8th. IN CANADA where we play 6 months of the year!!!!!!!! Me having none so far was not amused at how close he came. I did out my 4 footer in on top of him LOL
OH and tied 3rd best career low - BUt who cares no aces. 80 rounds in so far aiming for 100
No, I've had FIVE!!!. But I'm old and have played a lot of golf over the years (more than most). Had my first at 16 ans then one about every 10 years or so, but waited 17 years for the one last year.
Also I shot my age this year for the first time!
Check it out...
Still riding high on my Hole-In-One !.....
That thrill's gonna last a Lifetime !
You've had TWO ?
.
Congrats! We'll take 'em any way we can get 'em!
Interesting story!
Congrats
playing in my 45th year of golf - likely average 50 rounds a year. Most on a course with 5 par 3s all under 200 with 4 of them being 140-155 yards.
NO holes in holes - 6 handicap - gotta think one might drop some day and when it does there is gonna be some serious drinkin
Yahoo ! - Finally : A Hole-In-One !....Damn thing only took me about 50 years !
On # 7 - A perfectly struck 6 iron 148 uphill ....Easy pin position (thankfully) - Same as in photo above......
It was my 1st round of the year . . . . Beautifully struck - 2 feet of draw . . . . Landed 5 feet short.
Did not see it go in though.....The group ahead of us left a ball on the green which I just assumed was mine....
It was 20 feet past the hole.....I was disappointed. A member I was playing with began to tend the pin.
Just as I was stroking my putt he says "Awww they left a ball in the hole". While my putt was in the process of going 10 feet past, he lifts the ball out and tosses it into the ravine. The other member asked him what kind of ball it was. He replied that it was just an old beaten up TopFlite....My ears go - "What ?!?!" . . . .
"Hey that was MINE !".....He says "I know exactly where it is !". So we fetched it and laughed and shook hands and continued.....The Asians ahead of us had been playing quite slowly (according to the two members I was with). Perhaps 5 times one member shouted for the Asians to hurry up.
On the 16th tee box there was almost an argument and I'm realizing now that I could have chimed in with "Hey you guys spoiled my Hole In One (by leaving a ball on the green !)......."We should have been able to arrive at the green and PROPERLY discover that a hole in one had been scored !....Instead you guys made it a confusing event"....Hehe, because I think we could've "humbled them" with that "charge"....
Anyways, there it was - plus here it is as well :

Ha-ha : "Broke the Taylor Curse" ?? (* My brother says)
But - Oh Boy.....Just now added up the score......45 front + 54 back = 99 !.....Ha - WITH a Hole-In-One !.....Good grief.
Man......
With a little bit of practice and on a less "targety" course ? I'm SURE I could improve upon that !....LoL :
Played to between a six and a nine in my youth.
Well, its cottages owners who renting out when they don't need it and
many camp grounds for RV's etc.
Ex.
the 5 acres for sale below;
is not more prized than a normal small house lot in
Richmond, and about the same tax and situated much higher
beside the golf course and not below sea level as most
properties in Richmond -
Its the gated community without the crime, to me very
attractive and the best fishing etc.

That's getting to be really interesting. If they get the hotel up and running I will plan on a weekend there.

im in eastern Canada on The Atlantic Ocean which we can see from a number of holes. I played on our closing day again today in SHORTS. 14 pars and SHUTTT UP about the other 4 holes. about 100 rounds best golf I ever played in my life the last 2 months.
What course are you referring to?
Made friends and playing with 2 guys from Chicago....they'll play in the cold but not in SHORTS! lol!
Seriously, I think I'm having a bout of appendicitis today....gets any worse I'm going to the emergency room tonight. Pulsing pain in the abdomen for the last 24 hours.....
according to my records course opened late april. I am heading out now IN SHORTS and 38 degrees but sunny so it feels like 39.
Its too cold tomorrow but Monday is last day for season and I think its my 100th round
we were talking about MOE yesterday on the course. and I guy I play hockey with now played in a few CPGA tourneys in his group back in late 80s - the CPGA had 4 stops in florida for warmups - Like many of the very low tours it likely paid a few hundred for a win or maybe a few thousand.
NO play today. in semi retirement again and playing daily but we had moonsoons today
Moe Norman is the single plane.
Setup4impact is a similar version of it that's easier to learn.
You certainly don't want to bother with it if you're playing well, but just to get an idea of what I do and will be teaching,
Check out this video: (watch it all the way through, 6 min 30 seconds)
i know nothing about golf instructions. Never took a lesson other than junior clinics. Is the single plane the Moe Norman swing?
Glad to hear it! I almost made another one last week with a 3 iron from 198...not too many people still hitting a 3 iron, especially old men.
But a miss is as good as a mile.....
I did get fitted this year for a driver (and believe me it's overrated), but I'm still whalloping the 13 year old 3 tp burner wood with the x shaft about 235 so as long as I play the regular tees I can fall back on that...and at 63 (on Thur), I don't expect to be on the back tees any more.
Still using the single plane and it's the easiest thing to do by far, my game had gone to crap until I changed about 2 years ago. Shot 67 today on a par 71, 6100 Ross course....putting could be better but is ok.
Best of all....I'm still walking and carrying the bag to help keep me young.
I'll be going to West Palm Beach in Jan to become certified to teach the single plane method "setup 4 impact" if you can believe that.
I see too many old men that cant get the ball in the air, can't chip with a lofted club, and can't get out of the sand. I'm going to enjoy helping those old guys.
I'll be under Kirk Junge listed on his web site learninggolf.tv. as a certified instructor.
Look him up on youtube if you get a chance...
still no ACE. been playing 45 years. 43 since i joined a club. 4 of my best 6 rounds EVER this year including a new career low. Never hit it straighter but obviously not as far as when I was ayoung stud. lowest HCP ever by 2 - was gifted a new set of very good irons a few years ago. Driver 5 years old (R11) and 3 wood, putter, wedges and 4bred 10 years old.
Been a great year and today was hotter than my buddies playing in Florida this week LOL
no aces but I just started playing in 1972.
Playing best golf ever. expectations now high every time I go out to go low. two 69s this year and most rounds under 75
Sound like Ollies ball today at the Wyndham....3 feet from OB it hits the top of a tent, bounds hard toward the green into a bunker from where he made birdie...dang near holed the sand shot.
I made ace #5 lat week at Tobacco Road Golf course...168 over water, a little elevated tee....pured a7 iron right at it all the way hits 10 feet short, gets on the ground quick and trickles in.52 years of golf, 5 aces...next one due in my 70's, lol!
lolol, buy a lottery ticket....TODAY
I hit a ball OB today over a 12 foot fence. hit a trailer 50 feet from fence bounced back in bounds. craziest bounce I ever saw ( i didnt see it - partner did) ever in golf ever, was so excited I went and walked a second round and knocked one out in similar spot. Only two times this year I went OB on any hole anytime. second time I was 1 over thur 15 when I did it.
i bet he is now best golfer ever out of moose jaw, saskatechewan LOL. they say he grew up in abbotsford BC golf season likey 8 months there vs the 3 months in SK
Hadwin shoots 59....13 under. The best kind! Awesome.
just saw a titliest velocity ad on TV coverage. It shows the 16th from the tee looking over the crevice and ends the ad with the tee shot on 17
Griff, #16 and #17 could be two of the most spectacular looking tee shots in the world. It is a highly promoted and hyped venue but it still delivers. They have defined marketing a course. They engaged the Bandon Dunes creator and partnered with him. They have created a demand in Canada that is unparalleled by a great marketing program across GOLF and money in the USA and supported it with a pair of courses.
$320 CDN for a room and $180 green fees normally makes people jaws drop around here LOL but in the grand scheme of world class golf its a joke.
On pics mine don't do it justice. 16 is over the most amazing cliffed crevice. $17 you must actually hit up over cliffs and cut the ball but the result is a driven green is the wicked slope works out for you.
Just google Cabot Cliffs pictures. Cabot links opened 4 years ago and I was there 2 weeks after it opened. The cliffs were hyped but it was less true links for the full 18 but these cliff holes are breathtaking.
Now having said that I played this course today which for 1/3 of the price is also partially links style. the 4th hole is as classic as any seaside par 3 180 in to the wind with a green that looks like a bald guys head. ( I kicked it in for birdie last time I played)

did you take any pictures?
Just played Cabot Cliffs. Highly touted new course. Edit. 19th best in the world only open a little over a year.
http://www.golfdigest.com/story/worlds-100-greatest-golf-courses-2016-ranking
im home today after 7 straight days playing. I am absolutely unbearable to be around. Cranky. My wife told me to go play - I might get 18 in now but even now the sheet is full as its mens night. Withdrawal hurts. I am soothing it with very cold coors light . taking tomorrow off. tee times booked 4 of next 5 days. Monday will be hard not playing but maybe I squeak one in LOL
That's great Buckey! I may have played 50 rounds since Jan...shot 71 today with 5 birds and 4 bogies...3 bad drives and a 3 putt.
It's unbelievably hot here these days...we 3 seniors walked at 8:30 and I didn't take a leak today until 7pm, lol...
a little more on Moe - apparently did a bit of a show at my club - must of been in the 90s when I lived in another province. anyway the thread is about talk about your round. I live in Canada. I essentially have two gigs (jobs) which of my 43 rounds since april 24th would we discuss LOL. never struck the ball better in my life. cranky when I shoot 76
This is aboard to talk about your rounds...brag about your most recent 18, bitch about it or provide play-by-play...even cursing the Golf Gods is allowed!
Feel free to post pictures of your local course...but let's keep to talking about our game.
Enjoy and have fun!
