good morning everyone! any news for 2day?
Rich as an Argentine. HAHA. Let's see if GODN can have people talking about us in that way.
I got this from this link.
http://www.usagold.com/gold/coins/argentino.html
Around the early 1900's both Americans and Europeans alike used the phrase "rich as an Argentine" to describe an individual of substantial wealth -- in 1914, only Great Britain was more urbanized, and by 1929 only Great Britain had more cars per capita. Argentina was considered to be one of the ten wealthiest nations in the world in terms of per capita income.
Not more than 20 years later, a series of poorly executed policies -- nationalization of industries, expansion of state services and substantial overseas borrowing -- as well as a period of bad leadership began to ruin the economic prosperity of the country.
Unable to finance its spending, the government of Argentina opted to attempt inflating its way out of its obligations. This caused an astronomical inflation factor of 2.1 billion times original prices between 1976 and 1991. To give an example, a single one of the 5 pesos gold coins now holds a modern purchasing-power equivalent which is beyond 500 trillion of the original, nominal pesos that denominated the coin. Once a status of wealth and prosperity, this massive inflation has eroded Argentina's per capita rank in the world to the less-enviable likes of Jamaica and Belarus.
nice info pnp- tenke has allocated 1 million into the argentina mine La rioja- between sampling and drilling
maybe for the novice or during the dotcom bubble in the 90's... now the more sophiscated investor likes to hear and speak to company directly especially if its a start up... IMO who knows just my thoughts
Unfortunately, that is incorrect. A company website is sometimes ALL that an investor has to go on to make an investment decision .... whether it makes them unintelligent or not, many people base their decision on a company's website - since it is sort of like their first and only line of defence.
Well of course Fuse all speculation here!
They simply seem to be getting established and will trickle out the information. Maybe ElGato was right though ... could be some punk working out of his mother's basement or some sweat shop in Thailand ....
Until we see some pertinent, solid info, this is all speculation ...
could be right but if the company is that ill advised to base their whole operations on a webdesigner.. then there isnt much to the company... either way nobody invests in the webdesigner only the company.... misdirected company or ill prepared going to be watching this on the sidelines
You are right, then it is the first thing I said some punk working from his or hers mom's basement!
what information could the company be holding back ... the location of the secret company office... what is it homeland security here... guantanomo base... lol...
I agree all smoke and mirrors seems to be I mean if the company cant hire the right web guys makes we wonder... but then again an artist is only as good as his tools. maybe geo doesnt have that much to offer.... even an office phone number... did you try emailing them? any response?
Well Fuse I did notice that too, and someone other then myself verifying that it is probably some young punk working from his mother's basement. Or it could be that the company is withholding information at this time.
Some news on Argentina---
Mendoza outlook remains uncertain for miners - Argentina
Wednesday, November 15, 2006
(BNamericas.com) - The future for miners remains uncertain in Argentina's Mendoza province even after legislation aimed at suspending the activity in the area failed to win approval from local deputies, an Argentine mining expert told BNamericas.
"In the end, the bill was rejected and passed on to a commission which is a way of boxing it in, delaying it," said Patricio Jones, president of Deprominsa, the local subsidiary of Canada's Tenke Mining (TSX: TNK).
"It was taken as the first small victory on the part of mining companies in Mendoza but it is something very relative," added Jones.
A number of the provincial parliament's senators and deputies have taken an anti-mining line due to misplaced views that the activity is not compatible with environmental safety or simply to attract votes, according to Jones.
Meanwhile, representatives of Mendoza's government promoted local mining investment at Canada's association of prospectors and developers (PDAC) conference in Toronto in 2005 but this has been the administration's only effort to encourage mining, he said. Following PDAC 2005, Tenke selected three important mining projects - Papagallos, Paramillos and Elisa - to develop in Mendoza province, all of which are at a standstill, continued Jones.
At Papagallos, Mendoza's parliament extended a national park boundary to cover the mining concessions, and at Paramillos the courts halted exploration earlier this year following extensive lobbying by a competing local business.
At Elisa, Tenke is still waiting for exploration permits after submitting the application one and half years ago, said Jones.
"We had a budget of US$600,000 [for Elisa] and planned to start drilling now in the Argentine summer when the snow melts but we can't because we don't yet have a permit," he said.
OTHER PROJECTS
Two emblematic mining projects in Mendoza are stirring up an already complicated scenario for the industry: the Sierra Pintada uranium mine, owned by Argentina's national atomic energy commission (CNEA), and British resource giant Rio Tinto's Potasio Río Colorado potash project.
At Sierra Pintada, a public meeting on November 2 to discuss reopening the mine and the clean-up of the former operation's tailings was cancelled after a legal challenge on procedural grounds.
"This goes against the federal government's recent announcement that it intends to promote atomic energy given the energy deficit that is forecast in Argentina," said Jones.
Meanwhile, Rio Tinto has announced plans to present an environmental impact assessment this year for Río Colorado, where it aims to start production in 2009.
Jones said a company the size of Rio Tinto would likely hold enough influence to get a fair hearing for Río Colorado but that environmental opposition is inevitable given the project would leave salt that does not contain potassium on the surface.
"There is a lot of ignorance among the public but also a lot of bad faith among environmentalists that makes frank and constructive dialog very difficult," said Jones.
The Deprominsa president said the situation in Mendoza has led the company to suspend US$3mn of planned investment this year in the province and to look elsewhere on the continent for projects.
"We have decided to explore the rest of South America and we have some concrete projects in some countries," he concluded without providing further details....
Hopefully the webmaster or web designer can update the site with some more info by then. Other than the flashy intro and the section entitled Why Argentina?, it really doesn't have much meat to it.
I am waiting a long with you.

Next Big Play
There is an old adage in the mining business that "the best place to find a gold mine is next to an existing gold mine." We would propose our own variation on that theme: "the best place to find a gold mine is to follow the X-Leaguers."
A look at the activities of our Explorers' League members shows that a number of these top explorationists are converging on Argentina. This is not coincidence, but rather a result of X-Leaguers' extraordinary ability to spot the next big opportunity. To put it simply, Argentina is a gold mine waiting to happen; owing largely to unfavorable politics, the country has seen disproportionately little exploration over the past 60 years compared with nearby and geologically similar nations like Chile and Peru. But in the 1990s, Argentinean mining code underwent a major reformation – unifying royalty structures and simplifying laws – significantly improving the country's investment climate.
The result is that a large swath of mineral greenfields have become available for exploration, and X-Leaguers have moved quickly to capitalize on the opportunity. Just this month, Hidefield Gold, run by League member John Prochnau, announced that the company has signed an agreement to acquire interests in 16 exploration properties in southern Argentina's Patagonia region. Hidefield notes that the region is "underexplored relative to other major gold regions of the world and consequently offers exceptional opportunity for an important new discovery."
Also active in Argentina is X-Leaguer Adolph Lundin who, through his Tenke Mining, has amassed over 1.1 million hectares of prospective gold and base metals properties throughout the country. Just this week, Tenke announced the acquisition of a controlling interest in the Paramillos Project in Mendoza Province, a package of properties that were extensively investigated by the United Nations in the 1960s, yielding promising results including an estimated average copper grade of 0.58 percent. Since the completion of this work, however, the property has been tied up in legal disputes, with the local government only recently granting ownership to an Argentinean company, Minera del Oeste. Seizing the opportunity, Adolph immediately approached the firm and purchased the lion's share of this drill-ready prospect.
Nearby, another X-League member, Ross Beaty, is also developing a big find. Beaty's Lumina Copper has acquired the San Jorge property, a promising copper play, which carries a historical resource estimate of 361 million tonnes copper and gold ore. And just this week, the company exercised an option to purchase the Taca Taca porphyry copper-gold deposit in northwestern Argentina. In fact, Lumina is spinning out an entirely new company, Global Copper Corp., to handle the Argentinean properties.
With this region shaping up as one of the world's most interesting new area plays, it's no wonder that X-Leaguers are some of the first in. Keep watching for more news from this exploration hotspot.
