FX Energy (NASDAQ:FXEN) agrees to be acquired by PKN Orlen, Poland's top refiner, for ~$119M, or $1.15/share in cash, which represents an 8.5% premium over yesterday's closing price.

Besides U.S. producing assets in Montana and Nevada, FXEN has concessions around Poland, partly co-owned with Poland gas group PGNiG.

PKN currently buys most of its oil from neighboring Russia, and the deal would help expand its own E&P activities.

Its hard for US investors to understand NG is so much higher in Europe.... if they get a hard Winter like the US had last Winter... it could be higher (unless that was in your estimate).

You can drill and hit great reserves all you want but it means nothing without production.

You have to connect your NG to a pipeline and take it to market and sell it. Tired of these penny style dumping news releases. Of course, I haven't checked to see if you've even produced but based on what y'all's IR toldme I doubt it over 50% sure. But since you're drilling y'all must've figured out where you wanted your infrastructure developed, for whatever that is worth.

FX Energy reported 2Q production of 12.2mmcfe/d.

7.5% below the streets 13.2mmcfe/d principally due to declining production at the Zaniemsyl well that has watered out and is no longer producing; and due to 2 weeks of downtime at the Winna Gora well due to maintenance.

As a result revenues of US$8.2m were 12% below the streets US$9.3m estimate.

Significant drilling catalysts in 2H.

The company is about to spud three wells: the Lisewo-2 appraisal well and the Szymanowice-1 exploration well in the Fences area and the Gorka Duchowna exploration well in Block 246.

Results are expected before year end and I carry them at a combined risked valuation of US$1.2/sh (US$2.8/sh unrisked).

12-month price target: US$7.10

Catalyst: Lisewo-2, Szymanowice-1 and Gorka Duchowna well results

All in my opinion.

The spark was their press release which stated that they were testing two wells in Poland which appear promising and look to hold hydrocarbons. The company's plans have never really panned out for European exploration and production, but maybe these latest wells will be a turning point.

Buyers hope for gusher in FX Energy

FXEN soared 27.04 percent yesterday to $3.43 after reporting positive signs in early exploration at a key drilling site in Poland, where the company primarily operates. Shares closed at their 50-day moving for the first time since early March but are still a far cry from their 52-week high of $8.78 reached last September.

Yesterday's long calls , which lock in the price where traders can buy the stock no matter how far it might climb, are looking for shares to rally above $5 in the next five months. That would be a gain of another 50 percent, back to levels not seen since early November. (See our Education section)

Total option volume in the name exceeded 4,900 contracts yesterday, compared with a daily average of just 212 contracts in the last month. Calls outnumbered puts by more than 10 to 1, a reflection of the session's bullish sentiment.
