ARIS seems
extremely undervalued.

2023 Forecasts include:

230,000-270,000 oz production
$1050 - $1150 AISC
$19M non sustaining CAPEX costs
136M shares outstanding
$1900/oz gold price

Using the above numbers on a worst and best case scenario, I get these share price
forecasts:

$11.48 Worst Case
$15.47 Best Case

Each $100 change in the average price of gold can swing the needle in those scenarios by
$1.50 - $2.00 in the share price value. Therefore, even if the POG fell back to $1700/oz,
ARIS is still undervalued by at least $3/share on a worst case scenario meaning they
produce near the bottom of the range and the AISC comes in near the top of the range for
2023.

Central banks had their eyes on gold last year, purchasing 1,136 tonnes — the most since
1967, according to the World Gold Council (WGC). This also marked the second-highest
level on record going back to 1950 and was a more than 150% increase from last year.

The WGC's Gold Demand Trends report from Q4 revealed that central banks bought an additional 417 tonnes of gold, following Q3's massive purchase of 445 tonnes.

"Geopolitical uncertainty and high inflation were highlighted as key reasons for holding gold," the WGC said in a report published Tuesday.

Central banks are paying attention to gold because of how it performs during times of crisis and its role as a long-term store of value. "It's hardly surprising then that in a year scarred by geopolitical uncertainty and rampant inflation, central banks opted to continue adding gold to their coffers and at an accelerated pace," the report pointed out.

The last time there was so much gold buying by central banks, the U.S. dollar was still backed by gold.

"Central bank purchases are highlighting the fact that gold remains a very important asset in the monetary system. Even though gold is not backing currencies anymore, it is still being utilized. Why? Because it is a real asset," Juan Carlos Artigas, Global Head of Research at the World Gold Council, told Kitco News.

Most of the 1,136 tonnes total was once again "unreported," said the report. "Echoing Q3, data for the final quarter of the year was again a combination of reported purchases and a substantial estimate for unreported buying," the report highlighted.

Those dollars are going to come back to the U.S., and that will be a hugely inflationary event. It will add many multiples to the dollar pie that thus will dilute the value.”

What is the Fed going to do? Holter says, “The Fed is in a box. . . . They will have to make a choice to save the dollar or save the financial system. They can’t save everything. Something has to break. I have said this for years, and that is there are already losses out there, but somebody has to own up to them. Nobody has had to take the losses because everything has been papered over for so many years where losses were just kicked down the road, and there is no more road.”

Holter goes on to say, “The best way to sum it up is the facade that we have lived our lives through is ending and will completely end. The reality is going to blow people’s minds. That will be a depopulation event because people will be starving. . . . The Fed has always feared a deflationary collapse where it cannot inflate the system. Credit is the foundation to the whole system. If credit cracks and credits collapses, it means the foundation collapses and thus the entire house.”

If everything is collapsing in price, what happens to gold and silver prices. Holter says, “Gold and silver are the only real money on the planet that cannot or will not default.” Holter likes them both and adds, “Silver is the most undervalued asset out there right now.”

Strange day for the PM miners. GDXJ up 4.7%. HUI up 9 pts to 226. But Gold was flat! Silver was up 1%. S&P up 1.3%. Are the miners signaling something? Perhaps that a bottom is in? Probably.

Hedge funds were aggressive buyers of COMEX gold futures during a two-week period up until last Tuesday, November 15. During this time they bought 80,000 contracts or 8 million ounces, the strongest two-week buying pace since June 2019. As a result the net positions flipped from a short to 41k contract net long, a three-month high. However, the failure to break above key resistance in the $1800 area has left the metal exposed to a setback, hence the renewed focus on resistance-turned-support at $1735.

Having failed to break resistance at $1789, the 38.2% retracement of the 2022 selloff, the recent bounce can still only be described as a weak correction within a downtrend, and for that to change the break above is needed. Failure to do so would likely trigger more selling, initially to $1722 and potentially as deep as $1700.

It's that time of the month again. The 'most important' CPI print in history, since the last 'most important' CPI print, is expected to show some moderation in October data (but remains at extremely high historical levels in both headline and core), and it did just that and then some:

The headline CPI printed far cooler than expected at +7.7% YoY (vs 7.9% exp) and down from the +8.2% in Sept. That is the lowest since January...

The index for all items less food and energy rose 0.3 percent in October, following a 0.6-percent increase in September. The shelter index continued to increase, rising 0.8 percent in October, the largest monthly increase in that index since August 1990. The rent index rose 0.7 percent over the month, and the owners’ equivalent rent index rose 0.6 percent. The index for lodging away from home increased 4.9 percent in October, after declining 1.0 percent in September.

The shelter index was the dominant factor in the monthly increase in the index for all items less food and energy; other components were a mix of increases and declines. Among the indexes that rose in October was the index for motor vehicle insurance which rose 1.7 percent in October after rising 1.6 percent in September. The index for recreation rose 0.7 percent over the month, following a smaller 0.1percent increase in the previous month. The new vehicles index increased 0.4 percent in October, and the personal care index rose 0.5 percent.

Indeed, even as real-time rents are now sliding, Rent/Shelter inflation continues to soar...

Rent Inflation 6.92%, highest on record, up from 6.59%
Shelter inflation 7.52%, highest on record, up from 7.21%
The shelter index accounted for over 40 percent of the total increase in all items less food and energy.
