Yankees' first reported offseason move shows they're going nowhere fast in 2025

Watching this now, I'm wondering why only Bartman got grief? He looked like Aaron Judge trying to catch a fly ball
I'm not a season ticket holder so 26 extra minutes won't kill me. I doubt season ticket holders go to all the home games and instead resell them or give them away.
As for Bartman he should have been paying attention to the game. He worked for our company and after the game he had better security than our CEO. He got a pass to the executive garage and his name vanished from the employee directory.
I get fighting for the ball, but grabbing his wrist was way over the line. Poor Steve Bartman wants an explanation probably.
As for the game, 15 strikeout games with 6 different pitchers and 50 seconds between pitch had become too much for even me to bear. So many games were over 4 hours.....and that's not 4 exciting hours! I pay to see baseball, not guys stomping around the mound. So, surprisingly to me, I like the timer.
First base should have two bases (like softball). Plain and simple, ball players have gotten bigger and bases were not intended for two size 14 shoes fighting to cover the bag. Although, I'm not thrilled that it makes it easier to steal due to being closer. On that note, baseball was not designed to be played with instant slow motion replay involved and I think if you reach a base, but then the fielder sweeps your hand off, you should be safe. Coming off for a nanosecond was not how the game was designed.
Sliding gloves should be no bigger than the hand itself. These cooking mitts are ridiculous.
If you go to every single ball game times 26 minutes...that's a lot of wasted time. That's 35 extra hours of watching no action! Thank goodness we finally have a roof!
From one WS MVP to another, Richardson toasts Freeman on RBI mark
October 31st, 2024
https://www.mlb.com/news/bobby-richardson-on-freddie-freeman-tying-world-series-rbi-record
Richardson is the only player in World Series history to win the MVP in a losing cause. The Pirates won the series in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 7 on a home run by Bill Mazeroski.
They did have season tickets. IMO they should be banned for life. That is NOT how the game is played. But the game is quickly passing me by with pitch clocks, 2 throw overs to first, increasing the base slze, sliding gloves, mound visits, batter time outs and analytics. All in the interest of saving on average 26 minutes a game while I paid $100 for my ticket.
I'm assuming these clowns had season tickets. Typically they state they'd be banned for life. I wonder if yankees would?
World Series: Yankees fans who grabbed Mookie Betts banned from attending Game 5
The fans grabbed at Betts and ripped the ball from his glove in the first inning of Game 4. They were escorted from the stadium.

The Yankees' statement on the fans came just over an hour after ESPN reported that MLB had asked the Yankees to ban the fans from Game 5. The team later announced the tickets were being redistributed to a pediatric cancer patient and his family.
Could have been worse. Yanks didn't get swept.
No argument there. When you think about it the Yankees should be up 3-2 and headed to LA.
Yeah. Drama caused from Dodgers pitchers putting guys on 1st and 2nd via walks every inning. Then the yankkees finding a way to leave them stranded.
There was a lot of DRAMA in that series......
So much so (said one broadcaster) that it FELT like a 7 game series.......
Which seemed like an insightful remark.
Including which I think maybe even COST them the Series ;
New York DESERVED that outcome.
Me I would'a been going for that gold braclet......
And man......THAT is one heck of a double chin.
So New York has won 27 World Series ?
Whilst the Dodgers have now won.....just 8 ?
.
.
Honestly, that was one of the worst World Series I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot!)
Dodgers mediocre pitching, starting almost every inning with a walk
Yankees TERRIBLE defense
Yankees inability to get the key hit so many times.
Looked like a late September series between the A's and White Sox.
Fun Fact: in the history of the NFL if a team scores over 20 points, gives up less than 200 yards, and has no turnovers the record has been 775-0. After the Pats beat the J-E-T-S it’s now 775–1
As the black Knight once said
Tis but a flesh wound.
Unlike game 1, there's no pinning this one on Boone. Cole was great, the bats connected early.....this should be LA bound.
Gotta give it the Dodgers for taking advantage of what they were gifted. And the Buehler, who even though it was the bottom of the line up, was untouchable in a shut down 9th.
Good to see Dave Roberts channel his inner Bochy and throw convention to the wind. He has earned a lifetime contract in LA.
That was perhaps the worst Loss I have ever seen considering the stakes. To have a 5-0 Lead in a elimination game with cole on the mound, who pitched great. And too play defense like that. I mean the sloppiness of that game by the yankees to let that game get away was absurdly bad. The problem is it wasn't just one bad play, they had 3 in one inning. They had other mistakes as well, baserunning issues, with jazz that they got away with. Weaver forgetting he threw over three times. The catcher interference. I mean it is one thing to lose it is another to lose because you beat yourself due to sloppiness. Now if Juan Soto can be in a mets uniform in 2025 that would be great. wouldn't it?
"The Green Fields of the Mind "
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped, and summer was gone.

Yes the run counts before the 3rd out is made.
Mental errors don't show up in the box score.
Oh please stop. Judge while making the catch was looking to first to double up the runner. It was a mental error. Same with Cole not covering first base.
And to Cole's credit he did come back in the 6th.
It was a tragic comedy of errors in the 5th inning. Needless to say the players will always remember that inning above everything else.
How come there's no one in the stadium for the trophy presentation ?
Just mostly janitors cleaning everything up.
I feel sorry for the Dodgers (there should be more people).
I feek sorry for you guys too - It sucks.
Whole thing started with what's his name (Judge), missing that fly ball.
That was pretty brutal.
It's OVER........What a game......But
What, they don't shake hands at the end of the game ?
That's not very sportsmanlike.
Bases loaded.....Nobody out......Top of the 8th...........Down a run
INTERESTING !
New York could sure use a double play
.Luke Weaver now pitching.....OMG
2 and 2 = now the count
Sacrifice fly by Lux ties it up
Ohtani to the plate....
Catchers' interference
Bases loaded again
1 out
Another sacrifice fly gets the lead.
Dodgers 6 outs away from a World Series win
.
.
The run would of counted if the runner touches home first. but soto didn't exactly look like he was going fast to home plate. probably gets there first, but all of this is not worth the risk with the leading run coming into to risk any chance of that run not scoring in my opinion.
Cole is at 106 pitches .... how much longer can he go ? 120 ?
If they got him out at 2nd, would the run not have counted even if he ran across the plate before the 3rd out ?
I thought what Jazz did there was very dangerous but got away with it.
In my opinion they made 3 errors in that inning. By rule it was only two can't call that play an error, although In my mind it was one it can't be scored that way however. Having said that whether they win this game or not after that, at least for me if I was a yankee fan (which I'm not) any positive feelings I would have had is gone and the only feeling right now I would feel with being up 5-0 with cole coasting before that disasterous inning, would be relief if they won this game. You really don't deserve to win when you play defense like that in my opinion.
That fielding error by Judge was just awful. But why didn't they call an error on the missed out at 1st base ..... Cole was running to cover 1st base but then stopped. Was it impossible to beat the runner (Mookie Betts) there ???
And lets not forget judge. Who has been a disaster this playoffs for the most part.
Disaster....and Cole made 1 bad pitch out of 30---to Freeman.....was looking to go very deep in this game--not now....Cole certainly should have covered 1B but Rizzo is Mr Nonchalant too many times instead of making the play himself...
They play some terrible defense this inning, and you give the dodgers with that offense extra outs (Making multiple errors) in front of that top of the order you will watch a big lead disappear in a hurry.
Having said that your defense stinks I don't care how many gold glove nominees you have I watched the yankees enough to know they are not a good defensive team.
wtf just happened ? Why didn't the Yanks get the 3rd out at first base ??? What kind of terrible error was that ?
Can't believe Judge dropped that....that may hurt
Yanks still leaving a small village on the base
