AmpliTech Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMPG), a designer, developer, and manufacturer of state-of-the-art signal-processing components for satellite, 5G, other communications networks, design of complete 5G/6G systems, global distributor of packages and lids for integrated circuit assembly, today announced teaming up with the Open6G Open Testing and Integration Center (OTIC) at the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things (WIoT) at Northeastern University (NU) to perform 5G interoperability testing (IOT) and conformance testing of its newly released, leading edge O-RAN CAT B 64T64R MIMO radio unit (O-RU). This activity will take place at the Open6G OTIC in Boston and Burlington, Massachusetts.
The NU Open6G OTIC will provide a comprehensive platform for end-to-end and automated integration and testing of the AmpliTech O-RU in a multi-vendor environment. Several CU/DU (Central Unit/Distribution Unit) vendors have expressed interest in conducting interoperability testing with AGTGSS’s 64T64R O-RU. Thanks to the Open6G OTIC support, new market entrants can gain an advantage and explore new solutions for O-RAN systems.

The NU Open6G OTIC and AGTGSS will conduct IOT and conformance testing to ensure that the radios meet the necessary capacity and throughput requirements sought by MNOs (Mobile Network Operators). These major MNOs compel traditional vendors to open their fronthaul for third parties to achieve successful interoperability. From the perspective of MNOs, these stable traditional vendors are deemed capable of accommodating AGTGSS as a third-party radio vendor without compromising key performance indicators (KPIs). Notably, The Open6G Open Testing and Integration Center (OTIC) at the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things (WIoT) at Northeastern University, also partners with AT&T and Verizon as a neutral testing facility in the Acceleration of Compatibility and Commercialization for Open RAN Deployments Consortium (ACCoRD) framework.

Although AGTGSS has a verbal agreement with a major 5G international CU/DU player to jointly participate in this endeavor, (to be formally announced at a later date), this interoperability testing is not exclusive to a single CU/DU vendor; any CU/DU vendor can participate in the testing. AmpliTech Group and the NU Open6G OTIC can support the creation and testing of multiple options for MNOs, aligning with the multi-vendor and interoperability core principle of Open RAN. The end-to-end interoperability testing, conducted by the Open6G OTIC, will provide a platform for any vendor to bring and test their infrastructure. AGTGSS teaming up with Northeastern University extends beyond testing, aiming to incorporate orchestration and automation-based RIC companies to develop xApp and rApp for both Near-Real-Time and Non-Real-Time applications.

Given the Department of Defense (DoD) emphasis on "Buy and Purchase in USA", supported by MNOs, it is essential to have such labs in the US to conduct high configuration radio testing and other end-to-end activities.

AGTGSS has implemented pre-coding to its CAT B O-RU, effectively reducing congestion on the fronthaul. This differs from older technology CAT-A radios, where each antenna requires a direct connection to the DU via RF chains, leading to fronthaul congestion due to numerous RF chains. Leveraging our existing CAT-B, 64T64R configuration, Northeastern University and AmpliTech Group are prepared to explore ULPI (CAT-A, CAT-B, & Class A), which promises further enhancements in radio performance.

I've met NUMEROUS Muslims in USA & crazy to think but nOT one of them was a problem for me/quite opposite I owe them part of my career & Lived in AirBnb houses where where owenrs & almost all co-housemates were Iranians, Egytpians, Pakistanis, Turks, Lebanese, Etc. yet I happend to have grandma (90+y.o) & several relatives in Israel, being ethnically Ashkena*i jews (60-70% MiddleEastern/40-30% Euro genetics) & even an ethnically Russian classmate there too (as 20%+ Israelis can speak Russian, besids official lang of Hebrew & vast population can speak English, so 3 languages).
Again, Iam not an evil/cynical person, just say this Hamas/Israel War = profit for the likes of Amplitech, Raytheon, Lockheed Mardin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman/Cobham, you name it. War requires such LNAmplifiers for radars/missile warheads, waveguides, electronic warfare (EW)/jamming power.amps, etc. However Gaza Strip is a small place - don't expect it be a major consumer of military equipment before skirmish ends, unless a powerful entity like Iran enters "openly" into conflict & UNLESS Israeli leadership decides to revamp entire defense doctrine & up equipment.. as it's not already high up in terms of expense (country is basically military camp... my cousin served in IDF & can confirm how "everything is affected by military, since high school).

As a human, Fawad did AMAZING things - not short of "spectacular", e.g I got a Free Condo/house in a gated community, w/upscale neighbors, pool, gold course, parks, close to FireIsland beaches... 2 storeys, all to myself, it was insanity for 9 or so months, he even paid my gigantic gas/heating bill that unusually cold winter when I wasNOT aware of the old system terrible inefficiency/(it consumed a ton of heating gas, despite modest temperature setting!, so when summer arrived & shutdown AC out fo fear or causing another high bill)
He did Jobs Reference for me, tho I got betetr from other/longer term bosses but still he did as Presiednt of internationally recognized Amplitech it was important.
He did whatever... and yet, he did damagign actions also.
As any advanced/intelligent person, they're complex beings, an utterly extreme case of which would be a classic story of "Mr Jecklyl & Mr Hyde", now Fawad isn't that, of course, Iam just saying... he is an amazing human, but in business he did stuff that alienated not only me but also a number of others.
The day I stormed out of office, THIRD(3d) TIME in 9 1/2 Years, was my last (3d) quitting, after previous day he pushed obsolete 1980's cr*p circuits onto me to design a Sequencer/Biaser for specific transitor.FET structures that would benefit from stopping bein self-biased, anyway, the circuits he unearyhed from ancient memory I fought against & he kept slapping on my back(spine) & then his brother pulled LAN Network cable from my work computer broke important/lengthy process... that was the last straw.
Funny how he always claimed people "were "fired"", but they QuIT, of course "Quit" is a terrible word when associated w/any such busienss, better say "I fired them", ohh no, you didNOT :) They fired you...
And yet again, it was such/life-altering Learnign experience, that I credit AmpliTech & its owner w/pushign forward my career... tho Years ther were slower than mere 6 MONTHs contract at L3 Miteq... at Miteq pace was BREATH-TAKING, I was learning gobbles & gobbles of engineering & human experience & interacted w/people who might even be callwd geniuses... there were several at Miteq, my boss there was a devastatingly smart & humane guy born in Pakistan... Both miteq & AmpliTech were historic stages in my life... Not to mention "feel-good" life outside work, on LongIsland NY... that ended w/Hurricane Sandy(?), subsequent mold, Lyme Ticks & displeasure w/rainy climate, besides profession, motivated me to move to south.California

Hi Mike, Fabless MMIC companies like AMPG are everywhere. They use design tools from a Taiwan Semiconductor foundry service. Most Everyone in microwave use the same foundry service in Taiwan. Then the performance is basically the same. There are too many of these MMICs available. These days it is difficult to be profitable because there are too many suppliers. Just telling you like it is.

Second Quarter 2023 Highlights

Q2 2023 revenue was $4.1 million compared to $4.6 million in Q2 2022.

Gross profit of $1.9 million compared to $2.0 million in Q2 2022 despite lower international sales from the semiconductor materials division.

Gross profit margin reached a record 47.2% compared to 44.5% in Q2 2022, an increase of 270 basis points despite inflationary pressures.

Core LNA revenue grew 23% to $1.8 million from $1.4 million in Q2 2022.

Spectrum sales were $2.3 million, a year-over-year decline of 27%, primarily due to lower international sales and softer semiconductor industry-wide demand.

AmpliTech Group TGSS division was formed to enable “true G speeds” by providing Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) compliant Open Radio Units (O-RUs), and complete system integration for telco customers, enabling ‘True G Speeds’ to the industry. The open radio units consist of the entire system that will transmit signals to intended targets (ie: a mobile device to a 5G base station). TGSS will design and develop these 5G radios on base station towers and will serve them to optimize the 5G ORAN compliant interface for adapting 5G systems for customers in the telecom space. TGSS will manage the transition for carriers to integrate new 5G radios and commission them for ORAN 5G compliance, 5G planning, and optimization of networks and architecture. It will oversee the end-to-end development cycle of communication systems which consists of designing the system and rollout plan, performing site integration and verification testing, deploying the system, and monitoring performance optimization post-deployment.
For virtually all communication systems, in order to provide the target signal with high reliability and performance, the gain over temperature ratio (G/T) must be optimized. A higher G/T translates to lower data loss and higher signal fidelity, leading to less system downtime. Given that AmpliTech’s low noise amplifiers provide some of the lowest noise figures in the industry for 5G antennas and base stations, the system will yield up to a 28% higher G/T ratio with AmpliTech LNAs in the front end of the receiver. The “front-end” of a receiver is what determines 80% of the fidelity and quality of the system. This leads to a better quality of the overall receiver with greater coverage area, fewer dead zones, longer range, higher capacity, and faster speeds.

Well its the end of Q2. Here is a comment from AMPG's website:

"With our AGMDC division completing design releases and ready to manufacture MMIC products, an intense marketing campaign has started in Q2, with expected bookings to occur during Q2 and shipments of MMIC related products expected to contribute to sales in Q3 2023."

I hope we will hear news about MMIC sales soon.

At the end of the day what matters is net profit/net loss. 2022 shows a net loss. In fact, every year I have seen shows a net loss. If they did not raise money, my opinion is AmpliTech would have been bankrupt. If you want to discuss Gross Margin and Gross Profit. You also need to show Net Profit or Net Losses. The reality is this company is constantly losing money. If it wasn’t for Spectrum who they bought, they would really be losing a lot more money. The interesting thing is Spectrum looks to be a nice company. But they are a distributor, and this does not compliment AmpliTech. The packages they sell are not the packages needed for the MMIC’s being developed.
