Airvana is an acknowledged leader in CDMA2000 1xEV-DO RAN infrastructure. It manufactures a full suite of products to support the implementation of an end-to-end EV-DO Rev 0 and EV-DO Rev A radio access network (RAN) infrastructure. Airvana’s products include a standalone EV-DO radio node (RN), customized base transceiver station (BTS) channel cards that can be inserted into existing wireless base stations and a radio network controller (RNC). Air-to-Ground Communication Systems
Airvana builds an Air-to-Ground communication system that enables broadband in the sky. Based on 1xEV-DO Rev A, Airvana’s ATG equipment is optimized to function within the tight spectrum constraints of the Air-to-Ground spectrum available in North America and delivers T1-equivalent bandwidth to aircraft. Commercial airlines can use this connection to create a Wi-Fi hotspot in the plane or install GSM and CDMA pico-cells – both lucrative new revenue generating services in the skies. The Air-to-Ground service can also be used for communication between the flight crew and the ground staff, and on business jets.
Universal Access Gateway
Airvana believes that service providers should be able to deliver mobile broadband services, from VoIP and packet video telephony to mobile TV, to their subscribers over any access network. While providing their services over alternate access networks, service providers should be able to provide the same security, mobility and QoS that they can provide over their access networks. The Airvana Universal Access Gateway (UAG) meets this need by being the industry’s first secure mobility gateway with quality assurance, designed to address these requirements as carriers move into this new mode of operation.
