Capitol Police face heat for censoring the National Anthem
By Andrea Widburg
Yesterday, news broke that the Capitol Police had halted a children's chorus that was performing The Star-Spangled Banner, our national anthem, because it was a forbidden "protest" song. New facts reveal that the story is worse than we had realized, and Republican members of Congress are starting to demand answers.
You can read the first round of information here. That post explains that The Star-Spangled Banner is a song that Congress officially legislated as our national anthem. Moreover, the same statute explicitly describes the respect required during the song. Nevertheless, when the Rushingbrook Children's Choir sang the anthem in the Capitol's Statue Room, a currently unnamed Capitol Police officer stopped their performance.
Since that post went up, new footage has emerged showing in greater detail how the officer argued with people associated with the choir. She actually manhandles one of the choir staffers (seen in the center back of the video):
??The Rushingbrook Children's Choir sang the National Anthem in Statuary Hall. a Capitol Police officer stopped them mid-song. Capitol Police claims they didn't stop the choir. The choir director tells the whole story in my exclusive interview here. ??https://t.co/ZRNbWy75la pic.twitter.com/ijiq4pw3X8
— Tyler O'Neil (@Tyler2ONeil) June 2, 2023
Someone present at the time confirmed to me that the altercation in the video was tied to the children singing the anthem.
The Daily Signal interviewed David Rasbach, the choir's founder and director, who explains that this same officer said the song was a "demonstration" that was, therefore, "banned," although the Capitol Police dispute that assertion:
Rasbach said the female police officer insisted that the performance is considered a demonstration, and that demonstrations in the U.S. Capitol are banned. She later said some people were offended, though Rasbach doubted her claim. He said the officer could not have heard from people who claimed to be offended "because her time was consumed with us."
The Capitol Police contested his claims.
"Recently somebody posted a video of a children's choir singing the Star-Spangled Banner in the U.S. Capitol Building and wrongfully claimed we stopped the performance because it 'might offend someone,'" the Capitol Police told The Daily Signal in an email statement. "Here is the truth. Demonstrations and musical performances are not allowed in the U.S. Capitol."
"Of course, because the singers in this situation were children, our officers were reasonable and allowed the children to finish their beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner," the police statement added. "The Congressional staff member who was accompanying the group knew the rules, yet lied to the officers multiple times about having permission from various offices. The staffer put both the choir and our officers, who were simply doing their jobs, in an awkward and embarrassing position."
"That's a bald-faced lie," Rea, the man who organized the trip, told The Daily Signal. "You can see clearly in the video, they literally stopped him before they finished singing 'The Star-Spangled Banner.'"
"That is absolutely, irrefutably wrong," he added of the statement that the police allowed the choir to finish. "She did everything she could to stop us and not let us continue singing, period."
What gives the lie to the Capitol Police's insistence that no singing is allowed is the fact that, as Rasback explained to The Daily Signal, there have often been musical performances in the Capitol's public areas. (There have also been highly one-sided political protests.)
The officer's agitation may have been because the choir sang not just The Star-Spangled Banner's first verse. Instead, the choir sang the entire song. On the left, the song is vilified as an homage to slavery because of this language in the third verse:
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Because leftists are ignorant, they don't realize that the word "slave" has a meaning extending beyond blacks enslaved in the United States. Slavery has been a permanent feature of humankind, at all times and in all places (and it continues in the Middle East today). It stopped only because of the Enlightenment, which was driven by Judeo-Christian principles, and the advent of fossil fuel, which made enforced human labor mostly unnecessary. In his lyrics, Key used "slave" as a poetic trope to describe anyone fighting on Britain's behalf.
Thanks to the outcry, Republicans in Congress, including House speaker McCarthy, are speaking out, with many demanding an honest explanation from the Capitol Police:
Just learned kids were interrupted while singing our National Anthem at the Capitol. Unacceptable.
These children were welcomed by my office because your Capitol is back open, particularly for school groups. @RepTimmons, @RepJoeWilson, & @RepRussellFry, and I look forward to…
— Kevin McCarthy (@SpeakerMcCarthy) June 2, 2023
There shouldn’t be confusion about whether our national anthem is potentially offensive, or whether it is inappropriate for children to sing it in the Capitol.

HORRIBLE! Why were children stopped from singing THE NATIONAL ANTHEM in our Capitol? This is a grave violation of their free speech rights. Capitol Police have no business deciding what speech is ok! pic.twitter.com/gacsSPkf3G

Once the Capitol Police provide an honest explanation, if it turns out that the police officer was wrong, we must hope she receives a serious consequence. Unfortunately, recent history indicates that those who perform a service to the left, no matter how wrong that service is, never experience consequences.

Biden Interior Department Cuts Off Navajo Nation From Oil And Gas Development
By: Tristan Justice
June 02, 2023
4 min read
In May, the Navajo Nation rejected the Biden administration’s plan to withdraw 351,000 acres from consideration for oil and gas leases.
President Joe Biden’s Department of the Interior took another step this week to lock up 30 percent of the nation’s land and waterways by 2030.
On Friday, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland announced a 10-mile radius around the Chaco Cultural National Historical Park now cut off from new oil and gas leases despite local opposition to the new regulations. The 10-mile buffer around the American Indian historical site offers protections for existing leases but eliminates opportunities for new drilling for the next 20 years.
“Efforts to protect the Chaco landscape have been ongoing for decades, as Tribal communities have raised concerns about the impacts that new development would have on areas of deep cultural connection,” Haaland said in an agency press release. “I value and appreciate the many Tribal leaders, elected officials, and stakeholders who have persisted in their work to conserve this special area.”
Local Indian tribes, however, welcomed more oil and gas exploration in the area as a primary source of economic development. In May, the Navajo Nation voted to reject the administration’s plans to withdraw 351,000 acres from consideration for oil and gas leases. The Interior Department’s decision is estimated to cost the tribe more than $194 million over the next two decades, according to the Western Energy Alliance, an industry group for independent oil and gas producers.
The Alliance published a press release Friday afternoon denouncing Haaland’s decision and the secretary’s “clear conflicts of interest.” Haaland’s daughter, Somah, lobbied for the decision on behalf of the Pueblo Action Alliance (PAA), an Albuquerque-based climate group demanding protections for Chaco Canyon that extend beyond the 10-mile barrier announced Friday. Pueblo tribes oppose oil and gas activity in the region claiming risks to the UNESCO World Heritage site with archaeological ruins dating back to the pre-Columbian period thousands of years ago. Secretary Haaland, the first American Indian to lead the Department of the Interior, is a member of the Pueblo Laguna.
Kathleen Sgamma, the president of the Western Energy Alliance, charged Secretary Haaland with playing to tribal loyalty.
“She completely ignored the democratic resolutions of the sovereign Navajo Nation whose lands surround the park to put the interests of her tribe, based a hundred miles away, and obstructionist groups first,” Sgamma said. “The decision prevents Navajo property owners from accessing the oil and natural gas resources they own which provide them with their sustenance.”
Readers of the New York Times would have no clue Secretary Haaland’s daughter worked for the primary group spearheading efforts to choke off lands near Chaco Canyon from oil and gas extraction. The paper’s coverage of Friday’s announcement made no reference to the conflicts of interest surrounding the decision. Emails obtained by The Federalist last year revealed Coral Davenport, who reported on the new restrictions Friday, taking orders from Biden’s Interior Department.
“For several months, people have been warning about Secretary Haaland’s conflict of interest involving issues that her daughter’s organization lobbied on,” Michael Chamberlain, the director of Protect the Public’s Trust told The Federalist. “Adding fuel to the fire, the Secretary participated in a documentary about Chaco Canyon, which was narrated by her daughter, Somah Haaland, and left no doubt about the position the younger Haaland’s organization preferred. This appears to be the Secretary and Department of the Interior continuing to place policy goals ahead of their [ethical] obligations.”
In February, emails from Protect the Public’s Trust revealed Somah Haaland’s group was also part of a coalition behind the insurrection at the Interior Department two years ago.
Larry Behrens, the communications director for the energy non-profit Power the Future, called Friday’s decision from the department the “latest slap in the face” to oil and gas producers.
“Given the common-sense precautions already in place, this decision has nothing to do with protecting the land and everything to do with protecting Joe Biden’s green campaign donors,” Behrens told The Federalist.
Oil and gas in New Mexico is the state’s primary engine for revenue, generating more than $2 billion per year in direct payments from industry operations. New Mexico depends on oil and gas revenue for about a third of the state budget.

Yes, and I knew that and am a strong swimmer.
There was a big unforeseen problem.
I thought I would try to swim in some and see if I make any progress. If not, then I would float on my back to get to the side of the channel. Big mistake.
The moment I stopped to assess my progress, lactic acid filled my muscles from the strenuous ordeal/swimming and I cramped. Had never cramped in my life. My shoulders (thus my arms, too) were immobilized. I could not swim. But all was not lost. I have fullback legs which were not cramping and I could kick, with my arms at my side, like an Irish jig dancer.
Cramping was not in my planning for a riptide.
BTW, the senior and junior lifeguards all tried to swim in, too. Resist that instinct (as you correctly acknowledge, ch) and immediately go to your back or just float in place and calmly paddle to the side of the channel.
But that is not how I almost died. How I nearly died was whether or not the riptide was going to release me or continue to hold me under. It fairly went the distance.
You don't even know which way is up, spun around repeatedly, as if in the submerged grip of a spinning alligator. When through the grace of God I surfaced, the whole sky and shore was pitch black on a brilliant sunny day. I had started to shut down.
The lifeguards offered help, though they were shaken up, too. Since my shoulders were cramped, not able to maneuver well and in my mid sixties at the time I decided it would be the prudent thing to accept.
The two fetching girls playing with a beachball at the shoreline when I went in, sucking in my stomach as I passed, were still there as I was helped out, flanked by helpful lifeguards, lol.
Here's the craziest thing. As I was reaching the point underwater if I was not released soon, it was lights out, what was I thinking? I'm going home to Jesus? I have so much more I want to do in my life? My family who will miss me? Nope. At the point of realizing this had become a 50/50 no advantage stock play, I thought about how embarrassing this was. That I was going to die swimming, and that I'm a strong swimmer. It wasn't right.
Sheesh. Sit down at Starbucks for a coffee before church and a gay song is playing, a boy to a boy.
We're being carpet bombed.

New communist leaders of America.
LGBT activists debate new tactics to counter effective boycotts of woke companies like Target
So far, the leading response seems to be doubling down on their existing demands.
(LifeSiteNews) — As America enters LGBT “Pride” Month yet again this year, LGBT activists find themselves reassessing their tactics to ensure corporate fealty to their ideology in the face of rising pushback from conservative Americans.
In recent years, mainstream U.S. brands have signaled their devotion to “pride” in various ways, from public statements and rainbow logos to financial support for left-wing groups and even political advocacy against conservative policies. Conservative and religious Americans’ patience with such antics has thinned accordingly, most recently manifesting in boycotts against Bud Light for affirming the “womanhood” of “transgender” male influencer Dylan Mulvaney and Target for selling LGBT merchandise, including for children, some of which it has since pulled under pressure.
The success of these efforts is now causing LGBT activists to second-guess their strategies, the Associated Press reports.
“Now’s not the time to back down,” said Brian K. Bond, executive director of the pro-LGBT group PFLAG. “I think both business and us as citizens need to look within ourselves into new strategies. The old models aren’t necessarily working.”
Ideas under consideration so far include counter-boycotts and letter-writing campaigns urging Target not to submit to conservative critics, according to Pride Northwest executive director Debra Porta. “Because the news is fairly new, more actions may be announced, especially as Pride Month gets here,” she said.
“We need a strategy on how to deal with corporations that are experiencing enormous pressure to throw LGBTQ people under the bus,” declared California Democrat state Sen. Scott Wiener (a homosexual activist who in the past has suggested “Drag Queen 101 as part of the K-12 curriculum”). “We need to send a clear message to corporate America that if you’re our ally — if you are truly our ally — you need to be our ally, not just when it’s easy but also when it’s hard.”
The story comes as Target shares hit a three-year low of $126.75, prompting JPMorgan Chase & Co. to downgrade Target stock this week from “overweight” to “neutral,” Fox Business reports.
Of course, it remains to be seen how many conservative customers can be roused to stay away from Target over an extended period of time; conservative U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently questioned how sustainable the boycott of the retail giant could be given that “historically, conservatives have typically been not very good at boycotts,” while expressing hope that the backlash so far has “made a real impression on the Target executives” toward companies eventually “get[ting] back to selling their d— products and keep their idiotic politics out of our lives.”
Left-wing activists also have backing them a compliant mainstream media promoting LGBT orthodoxy and neglecting to report the most controversial aspects of these controversies, as well as institutionalized incentives for corporations to “go woke,” such as so-called “environmental, social, and corporate governance” (ESG) standards in the financial sector.
ESG, essentially a scoring system that incentivizes investing in companies not on the basis of their performance for customers and shareholders but rather on their fealty to so-called “social justice” principles such as diversity and environmentalism, is one of the reasons why so many companies adopt controversial ideological stands and attempt to influence public policy on issues such as homosexuality, transgenderism, race relations, and abortion.
However, there are also conservatives doing more to fight back than in the past.
Nineteen states – Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming – have formed a coalition to collectively agree to resist ESG standards in a variety of ways, such as banning their use in state pension-fund investment decisions, banning the use of “social credit scores” in banking and lending practices, and banning ideological discrimination against customers by financial institutions.
Walgreens Launches New Store With NO PRODUCTS Because Theft Is So INSANE
Walmart To Offer Pride Merchandise Despite Controversies
https://truthpress.com/news/walmart-to-offer-pride-merchandise-despite-controversies/
Walmart is continuing to provide LGBT products as part of Pride Month, the firm said on Wednesday amid a consumer backlash against multiple brands aligning with such ideologies.
“We haven’t changed anything in our assortment,” Latriece Watkins, Walmart’s chief merchandising officer, said on May 31, according to Reuters. Watkins’ statement comes following a backlash against Target after the retailer launched LGBT items, including some targeted at kids.
In late May, Target announced that it was removing some of the controversial items and insisted there were “threats” facing the company’s team members. But things are different with Walmart, Watkins said.
“When we think about security … we have not done anything in particular differently related to security in our stores,” he added.
Walmart has been offering Pride products at thousands of its stores across the United States. The company has released T-shirts with slogans like “Gay AF,” “Woke Up Gay Again,” and “Some People Are Gay.” The retailer also has introduced onesies for infants with slogans like “I Love My 2 Moms” and “Proud Love.”
As part of its “Pride & Joy” collection, Walmart is offering LGBT-friendly trinkets and accessories like pins, flags, tote bags, and more.
A controversial product being offered by Walmart is a “breathable” chest binder aimed at “trans, lesbian, and tomboys.” The binder, offered online, features pictures of a young girl modeling the product.
Chest binders are used by girls to compress their breasts in order to create a masculine appearance.
“We’ve backed #Target into a corner for selling #Pride merch in the children’s section. Now we go for #Walmart. These woke companies need to know that enough is enough. Not ONE MORE [expletive] DAY. They’re NOT GETTING our kids,” journalist Breck Worsham said in a May 24 tweet.
Walmart’s LGBT Diversity Push
Walmart has an “inclusive sourcing” program for LGBT groups. Walmart’s supplier inclusion initiative offers companies, owned and operated by members of LGBT and other identities like ethnic and racial minorities, “the opportunity to work with us while growing their business,” according to Walmart’s July 2022 ESG report.
“For our U.S. businesses, we sourced more than $13.3 billion in goods and services from approximately 2,600 diverse suppliers.”
In 2021, Walmart donated $500,000 to PFLAG, the largest organization in the United States that advocates for LGBT and their families.
PFLAG was recently in the news after its President Tristan Coolman threatened to classify York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) as “unsafe for the LGBTQ2IA+ community” in April. The threat came after the board held a meeting that included a delegation of parents who were against the YCDSB flying a pride flag.
Calling the meeting “deeply disturbing,” Coolman called the parent delegation who stood against the pride flag as “discriminatory and bigoted” while also criticizing the board for allowing them.
ESG principles make companies look beyond making market demand and profits, and focus on taking actions related to issues like climate change, racism, and sexual identity, among others. It is adopted by firms mainly to appease large investors like BlackRock that use these metrics to evaluate whether to invest or not.
In a Sept. 16 interview with EpochTV’s “Crossroads” program, Andy Puzder, a visiting fellow at The Heritage Foundation, pointed out that while capitalism focuses on enhancing investor returns, ESG focuses on “accomplishing leftist political agenda.”
A group of “corporate elites” at financial firms such as BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard—which together control more than $20 trillion worth of investments—are “imposing their will” on the managers of companies that they are invested in.
Retail Chain Boycotts
Companies promoting the LGBT agenda have increasingly come under criticism from conservatives, with brands like Bud Light, Target, Walmart, Chick-fil-A, and PetSmart facing boycott calls.
However, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) pointed out that boycott calls may not work well on all companies. During one of his recent podcasts, the Senator said that a brand like Bud Light isn’t a “hard boycott” since any individual can easily find an alternative beer brand.
But retail chains present a unique challenge. “Target? We’ll see how prolonged and easy a substitution it is,” he said.
“I will say Targets are located in a lot of areas and very convenient for a lot of shoppers. So we’ll see if this becomes a persistent consequence or not,” Cruz said, adding that in general, “conservatives have typically been not very good at boycotts.”
In addition to Walmart and Target, Kohl’s is another major retailer facing boycott calls. The company has come under scrutiny for selling LGBT-related items like onesies for infants and a rainbow-colored tutu for kids among others.

Kari Lake has released a song titled “81 Million Votes, My A**.”
The Spotify song credits list the Truth Bombers as performers and Jeffrey Steele as one of the writers. Steele previously wrote hits for country music stars Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw.
Forbes reported some of those involved were also on the team behind “Justice for All,” an anthem performed by inmates imprisoned over their role in the January 6, 2021 storming of Congress.
While Lake doesn’t perform directly in the latest song, clips of one of her speeches are interspaced throughout the song, which she promoted via her official Twitter account.
