Kenneth R. Feinberg, the government’s special master for compensation, has spent nearly five months studying pay packages at some of the nation’s largest banks. But ask him if bankers and traders earn far too much money, and he demurs.

“I wouldn’t begin to say how much money you should make on Wall Street,” Mr. Feinberg said in an interview last week, as he prepared to slash pay for the top 25 earners at seven firms that received significant government aid. “I’ve never worked on Wall Street. I don’t claim to know the ethos of Wall Street.”

For Mr. Feinberg, the process of cutting pay underscored the widening divide between Wall Street and the rest of America, where even a fraction of a banker’s pay seems like riches to many people.

“A Wall Street executive will say to me: ‘Mr. Feinberg, last year I made $30 million. This year, you’re whacking me down, you’re reducing me to $10 million. How can you do that?’ ” Mr. Feinberg said. “On the other side of the argument, you hear people say ‘$10 million — that’s outrageous.’ ”

Pay experts said the plan, which emerged Wednesday, could lead to the departure of the very executives needed to return the firms to health, a prerequisite to repaying taxpayer support. Bankers regaled Mr. Feinberg with similar concerns in the months it took to prepare his order, but he said he thought they would be left with enough pay to persuade them to remain in their jobs.

“If any one of these people left, I would be very disappointed,” he said.

Mr. Feinberg waded through tens of thousands of documents and spoke with scores of executives, consultants and officials who wound up influencing the shape of the rules.

He also received e-mail messages from the public, some of whom urged him not to be too hard on Wall Street because of the financial stake now held by taxpayers.

He recounted an e-mail message he received recently about his decision to ask Kenneth D. Lewis, the chief executive of Bank of America , to give up his salary this year.

The author argued that “a man is innocent until proven guilty,” Mr. Feinberg recalled, and said it was unfair to punish Mr. Lewis for the ill-fated merger he forged with Merrill Lynch unless accusations by regulators over the bank’s failure to disclose Merrill losses and bonuses turn out to be true.

Mr. Feinberg said his mandate was to persuade executives at bailed-out companies like Bank of America to stay despite looming pay cuts. But since Mr. Lewis had already announced his retirement, there was no persuading to be done, he said.

Mr. Feinberg added that he was considering asking Mr. Lewis to voluntarily renegotiate more than $50 million in pension benefits that he will walk away with at the end of the year.

Much of Mr. Feinberg’s job also involved figuring out when an eye-popping salary signaled that a company was taking too much risk to reel in profits.

In one case, a trader at Citigroup , Andrew Hall, had a $100 million guaranteed contract that could not be altered without the trader’s permission. Citigroup sold Mr. Hall’s unit, called Phibro, before Mr. Feinberg could make a ruling.

Still, Mr. Feinberg said he had already “concluded that anybody making $100 million a year is engaged in excessive risk.”

To the critics who wrote in to say the government should not be involved in private pay packages, Mr. Feinberg said he agreed — in principle.

“The capitalist system is a great system. Maybe people on Wall Street earn those multiple millions,” he said.

“But this is a rather unique situation where the government is a creditor and the government should be able to influence executive compensation,” he said.

Mr. Feinberg said he expected his ruling to please no one. If that happened, he added, he would consider it a mark of success.

“The populists will undoubtedly say:, ‘You caved. You gave Wall Street financiers too much money,’ ” he said. “The other side, the Wall Street culture, will say I put those companies at a disadvantage.”

U.S. President Barack Obama lashed out Saturday against the "deceptive and dishonest" efforts of health insurance companies, who he said are trying to kill healthcare reform, no matter the cost to the country.

Sharpening his attack on insurers, Obama also signaled support for a congressional review of the insurance industry's long-standing exemption from federal anti-trust laws.

Some Democrats want the privilege repealed.

The Democratic president's push to revamp the $2.5 trillion U.S. healthcare industry, his top domestic policy priority, received a big boost this week when the Senate Finance Committee approved its version of a reform measure with the support of Republican Senator Olympia Snowe.

Many experts expect some version of a healthcare bill will pass this year, but there are still major disagreements on details, including whether the measure will include a government-run insurance program, the "public option." "For the first time ever, all five committees in Congress responsible for health reform have passed a version of legislation," Obama said in his weekly radio address.

"As I speak to you today, we are closer to reforming the health care system than we have ever been in history." However, he acknowledged the overhaul still must clear significant hurdles before becoming law.

"And there are still those who would try to kill reform at any cost," he said. "For decades, whenever we have tried to reform the system, the insurance companies have done everything in their considerable power to stop us," Obama said.

"And they're earning these profits and bonuses while enjoying a privileged exception from our anti-trust laws, a matter that Congress is rightfully reviewing," he said.

Battle Intensifies This Week

The battle over reform between angry Democrats and health insurers intensified when the industry trade group America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) issued a report Monday, on the eve of the finance committee's vote, saying Senate healthcare legislation would lead to increases in annual insurance premiums of as much as $4,000 by 2019.

Democrats denied the findings, citing a report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office that said the Finance Committee bill would make health coverage affordable to millions of Americans who do not have it and slow the growth of healthcare costs.

Defending insurers' position, AHIP spokesman Robert Zirkelbach said, "We are not trying to stop reform as some have suggested. We want reform that will work and can be sustained, and we are offering solutions to address the concerns."

He said threats to repeal the industry's anti-trust exemption -- the McCarran-Ferguson Act, which kept regulation in the states' hands -- was "retaliation for us speaking out."

Obama maintained, however, that the insurance industry "is rolling out the big guns and breaking open their massive war chest -- to marshal their forces for one last fight to save the status quo."

"They're filling the airwaves with deceptive and dishonest ads. They're flooding Capitol Hill with lobbyists and campaign contributions. And they're funding studies designed to mislead the American people," he said.

Democratic leaders in Congress began work this week on merging the various committees' proposals on healthcare while keeping party liberals and moderates -- and Snowe -- happy.

Senate Republicans demanded Democrats allow more time to debate the details of the sweeping plan.

Obama has set the end of the year as his goal for passing a measure that would begin to slow increases in healthcare costs, regulate the insurance market and expand health coverage without increasing the federal budget deficit.

Health insurers' shares dropped this week after news of the finance committee's vote. Obama vowed an overhaul will go through.

"Every time we get close to passing reform, the insurance companies produce these phony studies as a prescription and say, 'Take one of these, and call us in a decade.' Well, not this time," Obama said.=

World's Currency Setup Fraught With Danger: Soros

Billionaire investor and philanthropist George Soros said on Thursday that the world's current "currency arrangements" are fraught with danger and that the world needs global regulation.

Soros, who runs hedge fund firm Soros Fund Management and has made his reputation with bold currency bets, said the U.S. dollar ought to be falling in value against the Chinese currency to allow the United States to contain its current account deficit.

However, Soros said because the renminbi is tied to the greenback, the Chinese currency is constantly undervalued leaving the dollar to sink against the world's other major currencies.

The dollar has lost about 7 percent this year against a basket of the world's major currencies.

Meanwhile, an undervalued yuan makes Chinese consumer goods cheaper in foreign markets. Beijing has powered the country's growth by targeting U.S. and other consumer markets with its exports, putting many producers in those markets out of business because they cannot compete.

Soros, who earned $1 billion in 1992 by betting against the British pound, said current currency arrangements are "fraught with danger."

He said that the globalization of financial markets was built on a "false pretense" that financial markets could be left to their own devices and said global regulation was needed.

"That is a tremendous challenge," he said at an event sponsored by the Economist magazine held at the New York Stock Exchange.

Soros spoke only hours after the U.S. Treasury Department said that China is not manipulating its currency but is piling up foreign exchange reserves at a rate that threatens progress in reducing global economic imbalances.

Turning to the world economy, Soros said "the world economy is going to have some growth, but we are bound to be flat."

He also said the U.S. is going to be a drag on world growth.

In China, Soros said he also believes there is a something of an asset bubble.

More than a third of parents don't want their kids vaccinated, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll yet public health officials seem ready to ram it down their throats if possible. Parents say they are concerned about side effects from the new vaccine and many say swine flu doesn't amount to any greater health threat than seasonal flu. The AP poll found that 38 percent of parents said they were unlikely to give permission for their kids to be vaccinated at school. The AP poll, conducted Oct. 1-5, found 72 percent of those surveyed are worried about side effects.2

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius appealed for widespread inoculation against swine flu, vouching unconditionally for the vaccine: "We know it's safe and secure." This official has what can only be considered as Swine Flu Madness for she really does not know if it’s safe and secure. In fact she has to know that a warning that the new swine flu jab is linked to a deadly nerve disease has been sent by the Government to senior neurologists in a confidential letter. The letter from the Health Protection Agency, the official body that oversees public health tells the neurologists that they must be alert for an increase in a brain disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS),3 which could be triggered by the vaccine. GBS attacks the lining of the nerves, causing paralysis and inability to breathe, and can be fatal. The letter, sent to about 600 neurologists on July 29,4 is the first sign that there is concern at the highest levels that the vaccine itself could cause serious complications yet Sebelius and others are on their bullhorns telling the public it is safe.

More than half a million U.S. children yearly have
bad reactions or side effects from widely used medicines
that require medical treatment and sometimes hospitalization.5

U.S. health officials have lost track of how many illnesses and deaths have been caused by the first global flu epidemic in 40 years. And they did it on purpose. Government doctors stopped counting swine flu cases in July.6 Yet at the same time we find at a recent CDC weekly meeting on swine flu, Anne Schuchat, MD, Director of the CDC’s National Centre for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, informed of the increasing illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths, virtually all due to the H1N1 virus. To date, 37-states have reported cases of swine flu, with 19-paediatric deaths reported last week, which means 76-children have died of swine flu this year, many more than the typical influenza toll in the past years. According to CDC, between 30th August and 3rd October, 1,784-American adults and children have died from pneumonia or different strains of influenza.7 Health officials seem to be confused; are they counting or not?

Fortunately we have some heroes standing up to the might of the vaccine industry and public health officials. Mike Adams over at Natural News reports that health freedom attorney Jim Turner is filing a lawsuit in Washington D.C. mid-day Friday in an urgent effort to halt the distribution of the swine flu vaccine in America. On behalf of plaintiffs Dr. Gary Null and other licensed health care workers of New York State, the lawsuit charges that the FDA violated the law in its hasty approval of four swine flu vaccines by failing to scientifically determine neither the safety nor efficacy of the vaccines. "The suit will seek an injunction against the FDA from approving the vaccine and the core of the argument is that they have not done the proper safety and efficacy tests on the vaccine to allow it to be released at this time," attorney Jim Turner told Natural News.8

The World Health Organization (WHO) restated its confidence in the H1N1 flu vaccine on October 6th, calling it the most important tool against the pandemic though they admit that mild adverse side effects such as muscle cramps or headache are to be expected in some cases, but everyone who has access to the vaccine should be inoculated the WHO said. Of course they don’t mention the possibility of serious side effects including death.

As soon as swine flu vaccinations start next month, some people
getting them will drop dead of heart attacks or strokes, some
children will have seizures and some pregnant women will miscarry.

GlaxoSmithKline won a further 22 government orders for its H1N1 swine flu vaccine in the last two months, taking the total number of doses ordered to 440 million worth some $3.5 billion. Rivals in flu vaccines include Sanofi-Aventis, Novartis, Baxter, AstraZeneca and CSL. The President's Council of Advisors anticipates that 2009 H1N1 may infect half of the US population, require 1.8 million hospitalizations, and result in 30,000-90,000 deaths12 but it is not clear whether the virus or the vaccines themselves will be the major cause of what they are anticipating. Considering the fact that the swine flu has been very mild we can easily believe that the vaccines themselves will do the dirty work.

Utter Criminal Madness to Use Thimerosal in Vaccines

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. published in the Huffington Post a few years ago devastating evidence that implicated the CDC in a terrible scandal in regards to the unnecessary injection of millions of children with thimerosal a few years back and this is important because again the CDC is going to allow mercury containing thimerosal to be used in the swine flu shots as well as the regular flu shots in the fall of 2009.

Correspondence obtained under the Freedom of Information Act reveals a medical monstrosity at the very center of the medical world. Soon after the CDC in July 1999 recommended that the nation's vaccine makers eliminate Thimerosal as a preservative, "as soon as possible," they themselves (the CDC) secretly discouraged Thimerosal removal in effect deliberately exposing millions of infants to continued mercury poisoning.

According to Kennedy, in a July 1999 letter, vaccine producer SmithKline Beecham tells CDC that it is ready to produce non-Thimerosal DTP (Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis) vaccines immediately and has sufficient inventories to supply the entire U.S. market during the remainder of 1999 and the first half of 2000, by which time other vaccine manufacturers would have their Thimerosal-free DTP vaccines on line. Thimerosal-laden DTP vaccines containing 25 micrograms of mercury apiece (75 thousand trillion atoms of mercury) were then being administered to American infants at two months, four months and six months -- far exceeding EPA's recommended safe level for mercury. Had CDC accepted SmithKline's offer, it could have immediately reduced the mercury exposures to vaccinated six-month-old children by 40%.

Kennedy continued, “However, in November, CDC mysteriously sent a letter back rejecting SmithKline's offer. Then, on July 14, 2000 CDC published a deceptive press release promising to require that all vaccines be Thimerosal-free as soon as "adequate supplies are available." This was a full 12 months after the agency had denied SmithKline's proposal.”



I devoted time to study this issue because I believe that this is a moral
crisis that must be addressed. If, as the evidence suggests, our
public-health authorities knowingly allowed the pharmaceutical industry
to poison an entire generation of American children, their actions arguably
constitute one of the biggest scandals in the annals of American medicine.

Bruce Wasserstein, the CEO of Lazard, has died, a company spokeswoman said. He was 61.

Wasserstein, a prominent Wall Street dealmaker, was hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat on Sunday.

The spokeswoman wouldn't comment beyond confirming Wasserstein's death. Wasserstein had been a fixture on Wall Street since the 1980s. He worked on such landmark deals as Kohlberg Kravis Roberts' takeover of RJR Nabisco, and the Morgan Stanley-Dean Witter and AOL-Time Warner mergers.

In the 1980s, he helped run First Boston before co-founding an investment bank, Wasserstein Perella Group, with Joseph Perella.

Wasserstein was CEO of Wasserstein Perella between 1988 and 2001 before selling it to Germany's Dresdner Bank for about $1.4 billion.

Wasserstein took over as head of Lazard in 2002. He took the company public in May 2005, and was under contract to serve as CEO through 2012.

Lazard has remained relatively strong throughout the economic downturn. Its second-quarter profits fell 18 percent to $28.2 million, or 34 cents per share, but easily surpassed expectations. New York-based Lazard's financial restructuring business has thrived during the downturn, offsetting declines in mergers and acquisitions advisory business.

Aside from his work at Lazard, Wasserstein was chairman of Wasserstein & Co., a private investment firm, which targets investments between $30 million and $150 million. It has investments in companies ranging from Penton Media, a publisher of trade magazines, to gourmet food seller Harry & David.

In 1913, the same year that the Federal Reserve Act was passed into law, a subcommittee of the House Committee on Currency and Banking, under the chairmanship of Arsene Pujo of Louisiana, completed its investigation into the concentration of financial power in the United States. Pujo was considered to be a spokesman for the oil interests, part of the very group under investigation, and did everything possible to sabotage the hearings. In spite of his efforts, however, the final report of the committee at large was devastating. It stated:

When we consider, also, in this connection that into these reservoirs of money and credit there flow a large part of the reserves of the banks of the country, that they are also the agents and correspondents of the out-of-town banks in the loaning of their surplus funds in the only public money market of the country, and that a small group of men and their partners and associates have now further strengthened their hold upon the resources of these institutions by acquiring large stock holdings therein, by representation on their boards and through valuable patronage, we begin to realize something of the extent to which this practical and effective domination and control over our greatest financial, railroad and industrial corporations has developed, largely within the past five years, and that it is fraught with peril to the welfare of the country.

The purpose of this meeting on Jekyll Island was...to come to an agreement on the structure and operation of a banking cartel. The goal of the cartel, as is true with all of them, was to maximize profits by minimizing competition between members, to make it difficult for new competitors to enter the field, and to utilize the police power of government to enforce the cartel agreement.

In more specific terms, the purpose and, indeed, the actual outcome of this meeting was to create the blueprint for the Federal Reserve System.--

The first leak regarding this meeting found its way into print in 1916. It appeared in Leslie's Weekly and was written by a young financial reporter by the name of B.C. Forbes, who later founded Forbes Magazine. The article was primarily in praise of Paul Warburg, and it is likely that Warburg let the story out during conversations with the writer. At any rate, the opening paragraph contained a dramatic but highly accurate summary of both the nature and purpose of the meeting:

Picture a party of the nation's greatest bankers stealing out of New York on a private railroad car under cover of darkness, stealthily hieing hundreds of miles South, embarking on a mysterious launch, sneaking on to an island deserted by all but a few servants, living there a full week under such rigid secrecy that the names of not one of them was once mentioned lest the servants learn the identity and disclose to the world this strangest, most secret expedition in the history of American finance.

I am not romancing. I am giving to the world, for the first time, the real story of how the famous Aldrich currency report, the foundation of our new currency system, was written.--

In 1930, Paul Warburg wrote a massive book - 1750 pages in all - entitled "The Federal Reserve System, Its Origin and Growth". In this tome, he described the meeting and its purpose but did not mention either its location or the names of those who attended. But he did say: "The results of the conference were entirely confidential. Even the fact there had been a meeting was not permitted to become public." Then in a footnote he added: "Though eighteen years have since gone by, I do not feel free to give a description of this most interesting conference concerning which Senator Aldrich pledged all participants to secrecy."--

In the February 9, 1935, issue of the Saturday Evening Post, an article appeared written by Frank Vanderlip. In it he said: "Despite my views about the value to society of greater publicity for the affairs of corporations, there was an occasion, near the close of 1910, when I was as secretive - indeed, as furtive - as any conspirator....I do not feel it is any exaggeration to speak of our secret expedition to Jekyll Island as the occasion of the actual conception of what eventually became the Federal Reserve System....We were told to leave our last names behind us. We were told, further, that we should avoid dining together on the night of our departure. We were instructed to come one at a time and as unobtrusively as possible to the railroad terminal on the New Jersy littoral of the Hudson, where Senator Aldrich's private car would be in readiness, attached to the rear end of a train for the South....

Once aboard the private car we began to observe the taboo that had been fixed on last names. We addressed one another as "Ben," "Paul," "Nelson," "Abe" - it is Abraham Piatt Andrew. Davison and I adopted even deeper disguises, abandoning our first names. On the theory that we were always right, he became Wilbur and I became Orville, after those two aviation pioneers, the Wright brothers....The servants and train crew may have known the identities of one or two of us, but they did not know all, and it was the names of all printed together that would have made our mysterious journey significant in Washington, in Wall Street, even in London. Discovery, we knew, simply must not happen, or else all our time and effort would be wasted.

If it were to be exposed publicly that our particular group had got together and written a banking bill, that bill would have no chance whatever of passage by Congress.--

As with all cartels, it had to be created by legislation and sustained by the power of goverment under the deception of protecting the consumer.--

As John Kenneth Galbraith explained it:

"It was his [Aldrich's] thought to outflank the opposition by having not one central bank but many. And the word bank would itself be avoided."--Galbraith says "...Warburg has, with some justice, been called the father of the system."

Professor Edwin Seligman, a member of the international banking family of J. & W. Seligman, and head of the Department of Economics at Columbia University, writes that "...in its fundamental features, the Federal Reserve Act is the work of Mr. Warburg more than any other man in the country."--

Another brother, Max Warburg, was the financial adviser of the Kaiser and became Director of the Reichsbank in Germany. This was, of course, a central bank, and it was one of the cartel models used in the construction of the Federal Reserve System. The Reichsbank, incidentally, a few years later would create the massive hyperinflation that occured in Germany, wiping out the middle class and the entire German economy as well.--

...A. Barton Hepburn of Chase National Bank was even more candid. He said:

"The measure recognizes and adopts the principles of a central bank. Indeed, if all works out as the sponsers of the law hope, it will make all incorporated banks together joint owners of a central dominating power." And that is about as good a definition of a cartel as one is likely to find.--

...it is incapable of achieving its stated objectives.--

...why is the System incapable of achieving its stated objectives?

The painful answer is: those were never its true objectives.--

Anthony Sutton, former Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution for War, Revolution and Peace, and also Professor of Economics at California State University, Los Angeles, provides a somewhat deeper analysis. He writes:

"Warburg's revolutionary plan to get American Society to go to work for Wall Street was astonishingly simple. Even today,...academic theoreticians cover their blackboards with meaningless equations, and the general public struggles in bewildered confusion with inflation and the coming credit collapse, while the quite simple explanation of the problem goes undiscussed and almost entirely uncomprehended. The Federal Reserve System is a legal private monopoly of the money supply operated for the benefit of the few under the guise of protecting and promoting the public interest.--"

The real significance of the journey to Jekyll Island and the creature that was hatched there was inadvertantly summarized by the words of Paul Warburg's admiring biographer, Harold Kellock:

"Paul M. Warburg is probably the mildest-mannered man that ever personally conducted a revolution. It was a bloodless revolution: he did not attempt to rouse the populace to arms. He stepped forth armed simply with an idea. And he conquered. That's the amazing thing. A shy, sensitive man, he imposed his idea on a nation of a hundred million people.--"

Raddatz ABC's Martha Raddatz reports: Among three different troop options currently before the President and his national security team, General Stanley McChrystal, the commander of US forces in Afghanistan, as first reported here, favors the middle option, which recommends an increase of some 40,000 more troops. A source familiar with the document says that’s the minimum McChrystal believes is needed for a chance for success in Afghanistan.

Although the debate is really about the middle option, there is a much higher number included in the McChrystal options.

Other sources who have seen the request say the highest number of troops requested is 80,000.

These sources also say that they believe McChrystal’s bottom option has no "combat" troops but 10,000 that could be enablers or trainers. This is also considered the “high risk option.”

ABC News has also learned more about how the questions that the White House wants answered are being handled. It is not merely a discussion in the White House meetings.

The Pentagon is getting "R.F.I.s" request for information -- such as "what would counterterrorism heavy require?" In other words--what would it take to pull off these various other options they are talking about...in terms of equipment and manpower.

Sources say McChrystal favors the middle option, and that McChrystal knows the high number is a ‘throw away' number, and is more than the U.S. could possibly support, either politically or with boots on the ground given how stretched the military is right now.

As one observer noted to us, “It is common for the military to give several options, but what McChrystal has done here is say, ‘you can be hung, shot or eat your vegetables.”

Researchers say they have created a special kind of paint which can block out wireless signals.
BBC | It means security-conscious wireless users could block their neighbours from being able to access their home network - without having to set up encryption.

The paint contains an aluminium-iron oxide which resonates at the same frequency as wi-fi - or other radio waves - meaning the airborne data is absorbed and blocked.

By coating an entire room, signals can't get in and, crucially, can't get out.

Developed at the University of Tokyo, the paint could cost as little as £10 per kilogram, researchers say.

Cost-effective security

The makers say that for businesses it's a quick and cheap way of preventing access to sensitive data from unauthorised users. Presently, most companies have to invest in complicated encryption software to deter hackers.

Speaking on the BBC World Service's Digital Planet programme, Shin-ichi Ohkoshi, who is leading the project, explained how the paint could have many uses beyond security.

"In a medical setting, you could transmit large volumes of data from a medical device, such as an endoscope, to a computer.

"By painting a solution containing our magnetic particles on the walls, you would quickly, and effectively, shield the room from stray electromagnetic radiation from outside."

While paints blocking lower frequencies have been available for some time, Mr Ohkoshi's technology is the first to absorb frequencies transmitting at 100GHz (gigahertz). Signals carrying a larger amount of data - such as wireless internet - travel at a higher frequency than, for example, FM radio.

"I'm working on a material that can absorb a larger range of frequencies. We are capable of making a paint that can absorb over 200 gigahertz."

He hopes that soon the technology could be woven into clothing.

"We're not sure about the true effects of electromagnetic waves, in this range, on the human body.

"We're assuming that excessive exposure could be bad for us. Therefore we're trying to make protective clothes for young children or pregnant women to help protect their bodies from such waves."

At the movies

The paint could also provide some much-needed relief during nights out at the cinema.

"Our current mobile phones work at much lower frequencies, around 1.5 gigahertz. But, our material can also absorb frequencies that low, so you could block phone signals from outside and stop people's phones ringing during the movie," he said.

As well as helping to keep the cinema quiet, the paint may also pave the way for higher quality screens.

"Movie pictures are beamed on the screen by the projector at the back of the cinema. But in the future, you could use a data link that works with millimetre waves.

"You would have problems with interference, unless you painted the wall and ceiling of the theatre with an absorbent material like ours.

"In fact, we've had an order from an American company keen to use our ink in its movie theatre - we've just sent them a sample."

'Nothing new'

Some security experts remain unconvinced by the paint.

"The use of electromagnetic shielding techniques are nothing new," said Mark Jackson, security engineer at Cisco UK. "They have been utilised by highly sensitive environments for many years."

Mr Jackson notes that while the paint may block eavesdroppers, it would not prevent other types of hackers or intruders.

"Paint that blocks RF based Wi-Fi transmissions does not in any way remove the need to ensure a robust security model is deployed," he added.

"Surely the thought of having to redecorate a building in order to provide Wi-Fi security is more costly & complex than security functionality available in even the cheapest of Wi-Fi access points?" he said.

During this moment of national catastrophe, many are confused
and in pain. And the catastrophe is understood in terms of its
immediate effect on us. The religious element is seen in terms
of fanaticism, the fanaticism of Arabs--the House of Ishmael--
versus our "enlightened humanistic Christian culture." We do
not wish to see ourselves as a modern Babylon, whose comfortable
way of life is bought at the expense of gross exploitation of
the poor of the world. So any idea that goes contrary to our
comfortable self image we will probably not readily accept.

Nevertheless, the God of the Bible is not the humanistic
god of our "enlightened" culture. The God of the Bible cannot be
so pigeonholed. We hear in the Media that the recent attack and
disaster is an attack "on our way of life," as though our way
of life does not need to be questioned. It is an axiom that
our way of life is good. But again, as the verses in Isaiah say,
our thoughts are not God's thoughts, nor are our ways those of
the Holy One. Yet we act as though our ways are God's ways.

Unto a rebellious people that walketh in a way
that was not good,
After their own thoughts . . .

That say, Stand by Thyself,
Come not near unto me;
For I am holier than Thou!" (Isaiah 65:2&5)

I'm sure nearly everyone has heard the expression, "Holier
than Thou." How many know that in Isaiah's ironic way of
putting it, the people referred to are saying this to God?
"Stay away from us, Lord. We are holier than you! Our way
of life is not to be questioned!"

So, what are we to say, when we find implicated in the Torah
Code, that Osama Bin Laden is "Mekhabel-YY" (Terrorist of GOD)?
This comes up once in the range of Isaiah 46 thru 53, but it comes
up near the name of Bin Laden.

To further search the Code in this matter, I looked for
"Mekhabel-YY" at its lowest skips in the Five Books of the Torah.
It comes up three times at a skip less than 35: At a skip of
24 and twice at skips of 33. I then looked for a complete
spelling of "Osama Bin-Laden," which I found using these
letters: ALEF,SHIN,MEM,ALEF--BET,NUN--LAMED,DALET,NUN. There
was a 6.99% chance that this could show up in the Torah, but it
does at a skip of 20,516.

I then asked my computer to see if "Osama Bin-Laden" was
mathematically compact with "Mekhabel-YY" (in a close range,
relative to a common matrix) at the three lowest skips (of 24,
33 and 33) that I had found. It is compact to all three with
the follow matrices: 1865; 2564; 5128.

I looked up in Strong's the Hebrew for the number of the skip
of each Matrix, and this truly lends credence, in my mind, to
Sterling's Alphabetics:

1865--DEBOR: Freedom (from a root to move rapidly);
spontaneity of outflow; clear; liberty, pure.

2564--CHEMAR: Slime (-pit) as rising to the surface.

5128--NUA: Fugitive; scatter; to and fro; vagabond;
be gone away.

The verses in which "Mekhabel-YY" are encrypted are:

SKIP of 24: Leviticus 21:4-6
SKIP of 33: Leviticus 26:21-24
SKIP of 33: Numbers 26:19-22

The first has to do with wearing a beard and not shaving. A
holy man is not supposed to be clean shaven according to the
Torah. This was the custom of the heathen and Babylonians.
Shaving was considered a sign of "civilization" and Israel was to
separate from the godless idolatry of the nations. So the men
of Israel were to wear their beards. Orthodox Jews today wear
beards, as do the religious men of Islam.

The last (Numbers) has to do with numbering the tribes of
Israel. It is a section of the 2nd Census that later includes
the words: "To these shall the land be divided." (verse 53)

The middle, Leviticus 26:21-24 reads as follows:

"Then, if you walk contrary to Me, and are not willing to
obey Me, I will bring on you seven times more plagues,
according to your sins. I will also send wild beasts among
you, which shall rob you of your children, destroy your
livestock, and make you few in number; and your highways
shall be desolate. And if by these things you are not
reformed by Me, but walk contrary to Me, then I also will
walk contrary to you, and I will punish you yet seven times
for your sins."

Again, "Mekhabel-YY" (Terrorist of GOD) is encrypted at a
skip of 33 in the above verses. The verses go on to say,
however, if we still don't repent:

"And I will bring the sword against you that will execute
the vengeance of My covenant; . ." etc. (verse 25)

From all this I have some tentative conclusions: I think we
are being judged by the LORD. Just as the LORD used the ancient
king of Babylon to punish Israel, Bin-Laden is a Terrorist of
the LORD. The LORD's ways are not our ways and we are not
following His ways. Is He not now telling us to go forth from
modern Babylon? Unless we examine ourselves and begin a national
repentance, will we be punished 7 times for our sins? ("I will
send wild beasts among you"--What is causing the increased number
of shark attacks and black bears now attacking humans and eating
them? Is this just a beginning?)

The Alphabetics in this case indicate to me that the
"Mekhabel-YY" (Terrorist of GOD), in our land of LIBERTY,
begun by Puritans (PURE), is causing the SLIME to surface.
The one causing us to see this is a FUGITIVE, a VAGABOND who
among vagabonds who goes TO & FRO. We wish he would BE GONE.
And we wish the LORD would leave us alone, since our way of

Key Senate Committee Approves Health Care Bill

A key U.S. Senate committee endorsed a sweeping healthcare overhaul Tuesday, gaining the support of an influential Republican and delivering President Barack Obama a victory on his top domestic priority.

The Democratic-controlled Senate Finance Committee approved the measure on a 14-9 vote, with Senator Olympia Snowe becoming the first Republican in Congress to back a healthcare reform bill.

Snowe, who had been courted by Obama and his fellow Democrats as the only potential Republican "yes" vote on the panel, said she backed the plan with reservations and she could not guarantee her continued support as the overhaul advances through Congress.

"My vote today is my vote today. It doesn't forecast what my vote will be tomorrow," Snowe said.

Health insurer stocks extended their losses for the day after the news that Snowe would vote for the overhaul. The S&P Managed Health Care index of large health insurers was down 2.3 percent in afternoon trading.

The proposal to reduce costs, regulate the insurance market and expand coverage was the last of five pending health bills to clear a committee in Congress. It will be merged with the Senate health panel's version and moved to the full Senate for debate in the next few weeks.

"Pretty much everything has been said and now it's time to get the job done," Democratic Chairman Max Baucus said in opening the committee meeting.

"Americans are looking for common-sense solutions." Republicans condemned the plan as a costly and heavy-handed government intrusion into the private healthcare sector and said the measure would get even worse as it moves forward.

"We can now see clearly that the bill continues its march leftward," said Senator Charles Grassley, the senior Republican on the panel.

Uh..How about congress getting out of the way of the interstate commerce clause and letting health insurers compete over state lines? Getting rid of state and federal mandates on what has to be insured? Minnesota only has 4 insurers for this state because of the onerous mandates. I am quite satisfied with my health insurance, I've not had one issue with coverage, but we pay for it because of the lack of competition and mandates. Fer instance, why should we pay for maternity insurance when we aren't going to have any more kids? Or paying for insurance against AIDS? A BILL

To amend title 31, United States Code, to reform the manner in which the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is audited by the Comptroller General of the United States and the manner in which such audits are reported, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009’.

SEC. 2. AUDIT REFORM AND TRANSPARENCY FOR THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM.

(a) In General- Subsection (b) of section 714 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by striking all after ‘shall audit an agency’ and inserting a period.

(b) Audit- Section 714 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:

‘(e) Audit and Report of the Federal Reserve System-

‘(1) IN GENERAL- The audit of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks under subsection (b) shall be completed before the end of 2010.

‘(2) REPORT-

‘(A) REQUIRED- A report on the audit referred to in paragraph (1) shall be submitted by the Comptroller General to the Congress before the end of the 90-day period beginning on the date on which such audit is completed and made available to the Speaker of the House, the majority and minority leaders of the House of Representatives, the majority and minority leaders of the Senate, the Chairman and Ranking Member of the committee and each subcommittee of jurisdiction in the House of Representatives and the Senate, and any other Member of Congress who requests it.

‘(B) CONTENTS- The report under subparagraph (A) shall include a detailed description of the findings and conclusion of the Comptroller General with respect to the audit that is the subject of the report, together with such recommendations for legislative or administrative action as the Comptroller General may determine to be appropriate.’.

Palestinians Say Hope in Obama Has 'Evaporated'
Palestinian Frustration Surfaces Days After Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

JERUSALEM Oct. 13 2009—

Palestinian moderates say hope in President Obama has "evaporated."

That's the damning message contained in a memo circulated among the top leadership of the Palestinian faction Fatah, the faction which is led by the moderate President Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority.

A copy of the internal memorandum was obtained by the Associated Press in Ramallah and its contents confirmed to ABC News by senior Palestinian sources. It accuses the Obama administration of backing down on its calls for an Israeli settlement freeze, a move that sources say has damaged the political credibility of moderate Palestinians.

Tuesday's publication of the memorandum comes just days after Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize, and the latest visit to the region of his special Mid East envoy George Mitchell ended without progress.

The search for a comprehensive solution to the decades old Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the main planks of the administration's foreign policy.

Earlier this year both Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called on the Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop all construction in the West Bank settlements. The call was designed to encourage the Palestinians back to the negotiating table and was a stricter recognition of the stipulations contained in the internationally agreed Road Map for peace.

The Israelis said such a demand was unreasonable and complained that a certain amount of continued building was essential. It has also refused to consider any limits on construction in East Jerusalem, where the Palestinians want to establish their future capital. The current Israeli government is comprised of parties that have long supported aggressive settlement building.

Months later no agreement has been reached on the settlement freeze and in a recent meeting in New York Obama appeared to soften his position on settlement building as a pre-condition for talks.

"All hopes in the new U.S. administration of President Obama have evaporated," said the document issued by Fatah's Office of Mobilization and Organization.

Obama Standing Falls in Mideast

It went on to say Obama "couldn't withstand the pressure of the Zionist lobby, which led to a retreat from his previous positions on halting settlement construction and defining an agenda for the negotiations and peace."

ABC News has learned from senior Palestinian government sources that Abbas and his colleagues are deeply disappointed by what is being called a U.S. "retreat."

They also claim it was intense U.S. pressure that led to the Palestinians deferring debate on the highly critical Goldstone Report into Israel's military operation in Gaza. This move was quickly condemned by Palestinians across the political spectrum and became a political embarrassment for Abbas.

In Gaza posters of Abbas appeared with a black cross through his face. Passing Palestinians were filmed hurling their shoes at the posters, a grave insult in Islamic society, and Hamas accused Abbas of being a traitor. Even in Ramallah, the West Bank seat of Abbas's Palestinian Authority, there were angry demonstrations.

The result has been a further reduction in the standing of the Palestinian president, already seen by many of his people as being too close to Israel and the U.S.

Palestinian sources tell ABC News leaders of the Palestinian Authority believe Obama is reneging on his earlier commitments and that U.S. pressure to restart peace talks at any cost is undermining the credibility of moderates, and playing into the hands of extremists such as Hamas.

The hopes kindled by the president's historic speech in Cairo have quickly turned to frustration.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in Moscow where she will hold talks with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Mrs Clinton will try and win the country's backing for a tougher stance towards Iran's nuclear programme.

The US secretary of state has warned the world will not "wait indefinitely" for proof that Iran is not making nuclear weapons.

Tehran, which recently revealed a second uranium plant, insists its programme is peaceful in purpose.

Mrs Clinton is also expected to hold talks for over two hours with her Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Pressure

She has been invited to meet Mr Medvedev at his private residence in the suburbs of the capital, which officials say will provide a more relaxed setting for the discussions.

According to a state department official, Mrs Clinton will seek to find out what specific form of pressure Moscow is willing to back if Iran fails to live up to its international obligations.

Washington has been pleased by recent co-operation with Russia which has traditionally been opposed to tougher sanctions, says the BBC's Kim Ghattas, who is travelling with Mrs Clinton.

But Mr Medvedev has appeared to shift his stance after the revelation that Tehran had a second, covert uranium enrichment facility.

Mrs Clinton's visit comes at a crucial moment in relations between the United States and Russia, according to the BBC's Richard Galpin, in Moscow.

Sanctions

President Barack Obama pledged to reset relations with Russia when he came to office, and his meeting with Mr Medvedev in July certainly went some way towards that, our correspondent says.

Since then, Mr Obama has met a key Russian demand to scrap plans to deploy interceptor missiles in Poland and a radar station in the Czech Republic as part of a US missile defence system in Europe.

Although the Americans insist they do not expect anything in return, our correspondent adds, Iran will be very high on Mrs Clinton's agenda in Moscow.

US officials say their government wants Russia to support, or at least not oppose, the idea of the UN Security Council imposing tougher sanctions on Iran.

But Russia, which has the power to veto resolutions as a permanent member of the Security Council, has consistently said it does not believe sanctions are effective.

The only problem with the idea of eliminating the fed is, well, even if it could be done, it's not the only central bank. The entire world runs on the fiat system. All the "feds" would have to be abolished. It's too late.
