That might sound better if 1st detect revenues haven't been "coming" for years now. Meanwhile, it doesn't explain the gross profit losses, since the ONLY thing in that number is DIRECT costs of sales - no overhead, no R&D.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that 1st detect will be 100% profit or that it's the only game in town. There are plenty of larger (and profitable) companies with their own solutions.

Actually you're either a smart investor, who realizes that charting a stock like ASTC is a waste of time and that it's important to look at their financial results, not their hopes and dreams, or you're a desperate gambler looking for that "big score" and buy and hold blindly, waiting for those massive profits that never come.
