MEIL Promoting Production of Biodiesel in Ontario Province

A renewable energy company offering a variety of products and services to biodiesel fuel producers, Methes Energies International Ltd. also offers biodiesel processors that are unique, compact, fully automated and continuous flow that can run on a wide variety of feedstock. The company sells biodiesel fuel produced at its production facility in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and at its commissioned facility in Sombra, Ontario, to customers in the U.S. and Canada, as well as providing multiple biodiesel fuel solutions to its clientele. Among its services are selling feedstock to its network of biodiesel producers, selling their biodiesel production, and providing clients with proprietary software to operate and control their processors. Methes also monitors from remote locations the quality of its clients’ production, upgrades and repairs their processors, and advises clients on modifying their processes to use various forms of feedstock to improve the quality of their biodiesel.

The company is a founding member of the Ontario Biodiesel Association (OBA) which promotes the production and use of biodiesel in the Province of Ontario, Canada. Most notably, OBA members have invested over $80 million in plant and equipment to produce biodiesel in the province. In addition to providing many environmental benefits, the biodiesel industry provides a direct and indirect positive economic impact on the province and its agricultural sector. In May 2013, the Honorable Charles Sousa, Ontario Minister of Finance, announced and committed through the government’s budget, a process to develop a Biodiesel policy in Ontario. That process began in July 2013 and the creation of the Ontario Biodiesel Association demonstrates the industry’s commitment to the overall interests of the industry.

Biodiesel is a proven, practical economical alternative to conventional diesel fuel. It is a renewable, clean-burning, non-toxic fuel that can be manufactured from algae, vegetable oils, animal fats, or recycled restaurant greases. It is known to be safe, biodegradable, and it reduces air pollutants. 100% biodiesel lowers carbon monoxide (CO) emissions by 44 percent, particulate matter by 40 percent, and sulfate emissions by 100 percent. Additionally, biodiesel can be used in diesel engines with no major modifications. It delivers similar torque, horsepower, and miles per gallon as No 2 diesel petroleum. Further, biodiesel-powered engines significantly improve lubricity, which can decrease maintenance costs, reduce engine wear, and it does not void manufacturer warranties.

Methes’ Denami 600 is the only commercially available, fully automatic, compact biodiesel processor on the market. For more information about the company, visit www.methes.com.
