I think you have the answer. What chaps me is that the customer service rep at IB would not admit this and insinuated that I was the only one with the problem. During the early part of the day, several bids at the ASK just sat there. That changed around noon.
The method I use on IB is a two step process - first step shows general parameters and second step shows a dialogue box with specifics and a "are you sure you want to do this" kind of message.
So, I can take the 1st step without risk of making a purchase. I took the first step on several stocks, a few OTCQB, and the message was the same on all that I tried -- "order rejected-- this position can only be closed." I did buy $12.50 worth of LYJN just trying to get an order to execute-- don't know why that one executed -- commission on that is $1.00.
