In addition to the other replies let me add what I look for when determining whether to approve a request for mod. The first thing I look at is the deletion records for the mod applicant. Lots of recent deletions generally means
Then I review the file notes. If I see that the applicant has several previous bans or restrictions on the board being applied for
Those are the main reasons I use for rejecting an applicant for a mod position. I try to avoid adding someone who is likely to violate the rules they are in place to enforce.
