SUMMER SOLSTICE

Esoteric Astrology as news for June 14 - 20, 2012

http://web.nightlightnews.com/OverviewfortheMonth/WeeklyHoroscopes/index.html

Thursday is Flag Day, Sunday is Father’s Day, Tuesday is new moon (29 degrees) in Gemini and Wednesday morning is Summer Solstice as Sun enters Cancer, sign of the nurturing principle and the Gate where Spirit enters matter. The unfurled flag symbolizes our nation and people’s freedom and liberty. We honor, on Father’s Day, all fathers, celebrating the principle of fatherhood, all paternal bonds, recognizing the vital and important influence of fathers in society and the family.

Tuesday’s new moon in Gemini’s meditative seed thought as we build our personality is, “Let instability do its work.” A profound quote explaining the complexities, confusions, instability and lack of cohesion within life. Which brings about the need for harmony, a Soul quality. As we seek harmony through instability, adjustments are made in our lives that call forth the Soul’s presence. Our personality, exhausted as it is from life’s vicissitudes, gladly offers itself for Soul direction. Our life harmonizes. Gemini provides us with this “story.”

At Wednesday’s Summer solstice the Sun reaches its highest point. Solstice is derived from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still), because at the solstices, the Sun stands still (a “sunstanding”), before reversing direction. The Sun, after reaching the Tropic of Cancer, stands still for three days, before its journey southward. Solstice is the longest day of light for the year. Then we enter the dark half of the year.

It is good to plant and/or harvest the golden-flowered mid-summer plants of Calendula, and St. John's Wort (hypericum), followed by fennel, ferns, rue (herb of grace, ruta graveolens), rosemary, dog rose (climbing rose, symbolizing monarchy), lemon verbena, mallow, foxglove and elder flowers. Harvested flowers, herbs and leaves are hung in doorways overnight to receive the morning dew. The flowers and herbs and leaves are used in the morning to bathe in.

As Archangel Uriel assumes guidance over the Earth twelve Sun seeds and the twelve moon seeds, from the past year’s new & full moon festivals, gather in a central chamber in our heads (the 3rd ventricle, called the marriage bed). There, as in all of nature, a new fire is lit. It’s Midsummer Night's Dream and a wedding takes place within us and within all of nature.

As the Sun reaches its peak at the Tropic of Cancer, those who have prepared during the year, celebrating the new & full moon rituals, stand within a new state of conscious awareness. Summer begins.
