This is BIG - 2005 Omnibus Appropriations Act, HR 4818.
House Report 108-792 signed now into law by the President of the United States includes the following language:
“The multidisciplinary research efforts have resulted in positive results to date in the development of a compact, wearable continuous kidney dialysis system that will greatly improve the lives of patients. The conferees encourage the Director of NIH to pursue research initiatives on the development of tissue-engineered compact, wearable, continuous kidney dialysis and liver support systems.”
