The only true part of this post, and other posts by Whiz, is that Pop! Technology does not compete with NeoMedia. The rest is utter fabrication from someone with no personal knowledge of either company.

The idea that any company wants YA financing is incredulous. There is no other company in the mobile barcode space that uses debt financing. YA, and other PIPEs, are a last resort when a company is unable to raise investment capital.

The idea that any company aspires to NeoMedia financials is ludicrous.

Pop! Technology is a smart label company. Their labels are used in B2B applications and are not intended to be scanned by mobile phones. NeoMedia’s primary business is B2C products and mobile phone scanning of QR codes.

Pop! does not use QR codes because B2B does not use QR codes. This week Pop! launched on their forth continent with the largest winery in the world and the largest retailer on the continent. Without signing another contract, Pop! Technology will be the largest supplier of smart labels in the world at the end of this year.

Pop! Technology's products detect food borne illness, improper handling of pharmaceuticals, counterfeit goods, barcode switching, and provides more discrete data at the retailer’s point-of-purchase (POP) for products with dual location. Each year, 325,000 Americans are hospitalized and 5,000 Americans die due to foodborne illness. Pop! Technology provides retailers and manufacturers with smart packaging to detect foodborne illness using retailer’s existing point of sale systems.

Pop! Technology does not supply barcode scanning hardware or software – the core of NeoMedia.

Does any of this sound like it has anything to do with NeoMedia? It is completely “unrealistic to try to compare these two companies.”

Pop! Technology has been a client of NeoMedia and other campaign managers. Pop! Technology provides information to their clients on various capabilities and functions of competitors in the space so clients are able to chose their campaign manager. The recommendation list includes NeoMedia.
