Rosie O'Donnell's use of Kellerman's facts are debunked

From Yahoo Gun Groups:

First, of all, since Gary Kleck's study says that guns are used from 600,000 to 3 million times a year in self defense(usual number stated is 2.5 million), and that there are 35,000 deaths(I believe) caused by a person with a gun a year, than at worst, you are 17:1 times more likely to defend yourself than die because of it, and at best 86.1 times more likely, with the probable ratio of 71:1.

Second, of all, the only area Kellermann studied was King County, Washington State. How can Seattle represent the whole country? If I studied Washington Dc, and then Livingston County Michigan, there would be much different results.

Third, Kellermann used a CASE-CONTROL study. These types of studies are often highly flawed. He even hinted that case-control was not the best way to conduct a study, but said that other types are not fesible.

Here's information on problems with case-control studies. http://www.extramural.uiuc.edu/ana/Rehab401/6-20-design/tsld001.htm
There are three or four slides there. I only have some basic statistical knowledge, so I had to search hard to find something in layman's terms that avg people like me can understand.

I'm posting several debunkings, some biased, some neutral.
Here are the debunk links.

PS - As of 10:34 TODAY!

The Gun Defense Clock. Every 13 seconds an American firearm owner uses a firearm in defense against a criminal.

Criminal attacks stopped by guns this year:
