I agree with him wholeheartedly! Great how-to whether you've done it before or not. I think most people do butchering exactly the same way as he does, it's the simplest.
We don't use a commercial chicken feed here either. Actually we really don't have to 'feed' the chickens at all. There is more an enough grain dropped by the horses (horses are fairly messy eaters) that they help to clean up, a satisfactory arrangement. The chickens also roam freely here so they get plenty of bugs and grasses and seeds too. There is always alfalfa hay in the racks, and the chickens are happy about that too.
