Grande Portage Resources Ltd. Commences Helicopter Airborne Survey
Thursday May 24, 8:00 am ET

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 24, 2007) - Grande Portage Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:GPG - News; "Grande Portage" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that it has received confirmation from Aeroquest Limited that the Helicopter Airborne Magnetic and Time Domain EM Geophysical survey has commenced and should be completed within a week. A total of 1125 line-kilometers plus tie lines for a total of 1460 line-kilometres are currently scheduled to be flown. Initial results will be available following completion of the survey.

The survey will be flown over two prospective, non-contiguous areas. The first area is an extension to the north and west of the area flown last year that covered the Old Sport Horizon and the Merry Widow open pit area. This survey area will involve some 1460 line-kilometres of flight lines and tie lines and will provide complete coverage over the Merry Widow intrusion.

The Quatsino Limestone Formation has been mapped outside the area flown in 2006 and where this limestone is cut by the Merry Widow intrusion there is the potential for the development of skarn mineralization similar to that observed at the Merry Widow open pit. The survey is expected to pick up areas of magnetic highs that may represent magnetite-sulphide skarn development. Anomalous areas defined by the survey and evaluated in conjunction with the geologic database will be prospected and sampled for prospective magnetite and massive sulphide skarn mineralization.

The second area to be flown (mid-June) is a portion of the newly acquired Cherry claims property. Approximately 1800 line-kilometres of coverage is planned over areas mapped as underlain by Quatsino Limestone and cut by various intrusive bodies; the stratigraphy is very similar to that observed in and around both the Old Sport Horizon and the Merry Widow open pit. Follow-up exploration will be guided by the same parameters for the Merry Widow area and will involve regional silt sampling, prospecting, sampling and mapping.
