The reason why is because, officially, you are not meant to discuss the ticker of another board other than the ticker of the board you posting on. For example, you are not meant to mention the SANP ticker on this board in that form. So what folks do is put an asterisk in.

I personally sometimes do not necessarily understand which letter has been left out. What I tend to do is type the ticker as SA*NP so folks will still understand which ticker I'm talking about.

Also, if you blatantly promote another ticker on this board or multiple boards, including cutting and pasting the same message into multiple posts and private messages - that is regarded as spam/advertising promotion. Apart from getting your post deleted it can also get your posting privileges suspended. First it might be for three days, then maybe five then maybe ten etc etc.

This website has something that alerts them to the speed with which you are posting. Also, you cannot post the same IDENTICAL post anywhere more than twice. Every third time you post something change some of the wording somewhere.

Also either reply to your own posts on a board or someone else's to avoid being labelled as spam.
