sskillz1, I agree the Stanton trade is one-sided. It seems Stanton got exactly what he wanted, to play for the Yanks, plus he made sure Jeter was f'd in his first big deal..even having to eat $30 mil of his contract.

However...regarding Miamin eating the $30 million. Its important to note that Miami only paid Stanton $30 million, or $10 mil/year average, for the first three years of the 13 year contract. Miami had left $295 million, or $29.5/year over the final 10 years. So, Miami eating that $30 mil really just trues up the contract a bit. Inclusive of eating the $30 mil as part of the trade, Miami paid $20 mil/year for the first three years of Stanton, and the Yankees will pay $26.5/year on the final ten years of the contract. Which kinda makes it a bit more understandable.....atlhough Stanton and the Yanks still skunked Miami.
