Good question. A lot of folks piggy back on google maps from their web apps. It is very simple "web service call". As we all know Google controls the web for all intensive purposes but if VITA app is as hot as it sounds like then, IMO, I would think Google would let it ride because of the potential new AD revenues. Also, VITA states they have a proprietary algorithm to help in the crowd sourcing of that data so if that is patented that should help them??

Waze got started the same way and then Google bought them. The one difference is that Waze used free data sources, which Google may or may not offer to use a selective version of their software. "Web Services" a software industry term talk all about this automatic interaction among "apps" that firms share all time simply by having the end-user sign a license that does may NOT require a license fee. Bottom line, license/subscription fees are all subjective to overall "benefit" of the supplier of the data, I would think. Maybe VITA subscribes to Google for a fee????

WAZE defined:

Remember, VITA claims to want to be bigger then WAZE - big dreams
