My guess is that much like Ascolese orchestrated the ACPW deal with many of the pieces already in place, he's doing / has done something equally creative and beneficial to everyone involved with SGB. As Board Chair for 10 years I think it's safe to say he knows enough about the business to want to buy it. And he doesn't need to make a great creative leap to know how much more valuable the company could be if they were to be acquired by P10 and no longer have to pay taxes on their profits.
