As for GLD, seems the Comex paper boys were reading up on what John Bollinger said about the first break out of a Band squeeze was often in the wrong direction.
Different perspective on GDX here, where we seem to be on the way to experiencing the same band compression syndrome - or perhaps we should be so lucky? Similar situation elsewhere in the sector.
