I think this all stems from the release of the FDA Approval. The cost of going it alone is pretty large when taking into account sales force/advertising. Apparently the added bonus from the FDA about Diabetes had DVAX re-evaluating and probably put any chance of partnership further off.
I think in the long term going it alone will make big money. But its going to cost and they may need to raise money.
Short term partnership would be best for investors, any big Pharma has contacts and sales force in place with the added 101 oncology pipeline a potential blockbuster I can still see this as a very good option for say Merck but we'll see. Shorty is done if we get partnership.
