Should have mentioned an example of what you say.

We bought GILD and SBUX in 1990’s, GILD at $0.75, SBUX in mid $2 range. The dividends on each has more than paid the $$$ cost of original shares, split-adjusted basis of now 1000s of shares of each. I regret I can not say same for AVXL, but I have time and money to wait, no need for instant LTC gains in AVXL that exist today.
