Roadway transportation has dropped because the newer generation isn't driving as much as older generations have, not because people aren't buying vehicles. Will it ever go away? NO. Why? Because people enjoy the independence of being able to drive to wherever they want to, stop when they want to, and simply because of zoning.

Is there a grocery store within a 20min walk from most suburban neighborhoods, sure there is but will people walk there? NO! Why? How are they going to carry the groceries they buy?

2-3billion increase in worldwide population within 20 years??!?! That is ridiculous. You do realize the earth is billions of years old and the population is roughly 6.5billion...how long did it take mankind to reach that figure? Where is your theoretical study information coming from? The Onion?

The US Government is investing in infrastructure mainly because there is a need due to aging roads, highways, bridges, etc.

Public transportation will always remain an issues, no doubt about that. In my opinion it is because people don't want to be held down by bus and train schedules they want to come and go as they please that's a normal American cultural trait and I would say it's a normal trait worldwide as well...who doesn't want to be able to go where they want, when they want to?

What do MSFT and GOOG have to do with automanufacturing? They are software company and a diversified search/online advertising company. They are developing software for self-driving vehicles not actual vehicles themselves...think about it. If they do get the software working they will sell it, they won't open up vehicle production plants that's a whole different beast for them to get into.

Read and think...

This is all in my opinon
