I bought back into FSPTX. Its up to ~176 now, but I missed about 1/2 of this rise by selling and sitting on the sidelines for a few weeks.

It was during this time that I started with Surfer, and it suggested to get back in. Actually it suggested I should not have sold it earlier, and it was right, but a gain is a gain.

I have created a Surfer 'Paid Strategy' that contains the 9 Fidelity Sectors available to me in my company 401k plan, and so far so good. I just wait for the email to be sent to me by Surfer if a change is needed. Easy as falling off a log.

As a side note, I have also created another Surfer 'Paid Strategy' that is really interesting to me, but has nothing to do with Fidelity Sectors, so it likely doesn't belong on your board. Feel free to delete this post if you wish. No offence will be taken.

Briefly I can describe this as sorting all the individual stocks in the 10 SPDR ETF sectors using ZACK's to sort and identify the 5 top gainers in the past 12 months in each sector, then creating a Surfer 'Sandbox Strategy' for each of the 10 ETF sectors, entering the top 5 gainers as identified by the Zack's 52 week sort for each, and then let Surfer select the top stock in each ETF sector.

I then created a new 'Paid Strategy' were I place only the top stock in each of the 10 SPDR ETF sectors as identified in the Sandbox. Back testing this Paid Strategy of 10 top EFT sector stocks (simply clicking on the 6mo tab, 1yr, 2yr, and so on), will show the gains year over year. 50% to 100% gains each year, year over year. Seriously.

Go to...

http://www.sectorspdr.com/sectorspdr/tools/sector-tracker

...to find the 10 SPDR ETF sectors.

https://www.zacks.com/funds/etf/XLY/holding

...enter the sector ETF (XLY example above), and sort the holdings to find highest individual 52 week gainers.

Enter the top 5 individual stocks from each sector into the Surfer Sandbox, select 1 month test, and identify the one stock that is the current chosen one from the graph (not the 90 day delayed bar chart, and not the current percentages, use the graph to identify the best one of the five).

Finally, create a Paid Strategy and enter the top individual stock from each of the 10 sectors now identified, and see what it tells you.

I reconfirm each weekend I am using the correct top 5 individual stocks from each ETF sector by going back to the Zack's tool and sorting again, then modify any of the Sandbox Strategy's accordingly. I then use Surfer to check each of the Sandbox Strategy's to see that the top stock I am using in the Paid Strategy is still correct, and adjust the Paid Strategy accordingly.

Surfer will send me an email during the week if a trade in the Paid Strategy is needed.

I am thinking it would be interesting to be able to sort the ETF funds for a shorter time period than the 52 week period in Zach's, but that is all that is offered. I would think a 6 month sort, or a 3 month sort would be interesting to evaluate. Possibly a paid subscription to Zach's would provide this. I have not pursued this yet.

Maybe you know of a way to accomplish this?
