I haven’t heard anything. You can call the company.
Here’s my guess; Semcon is key. The past patents (NetTech and Mariner) were expired patents with less value. Semcon patents aren’t expired, not for a few years, so there is a lot of potential. The current suit has four patents against 11 companies and 22 accused products. The Markman hearing appeared to me to be a big win (am not an attorney). At this point, all the filings seem to be sealed and both sides are clawing for cash. Settlements are common.
IF and it is an “IF” – If Semcon has a strong win they can have a good amount of income to pay the lawyers and investors that helped them acquire the patents with some revenue to operate. This would allow them to break the cycle of buying patents and legal on credit and getting nothing at the end. In order for this company to win it needs to get suits out there for Mariner, IC, and the 14 patents acquired. As well as more Semcon suits which should settle at a quicker rate.
If Semcon is a bust, I don’t believe it is than do the math. No other patents in the courts and it could take years for the suits to move though and it would take years beyond that for us to see results.
That’s my best guest.
