I assume you're referring to advances in battery technology... It's really a moot point. Wind/Solar power is consumed on the grid as fast as it can be produced, leaving little need for battery storage (unless you're using a personal wind turbine/solar to power your home). Coal production can be ramped up quickly and stockpiled months in advance... just try that with renewables. Point is, for decades to come, there will always be a need for coal and other fossil fuels.
