There probably are more elegant solutions but here's my redneck idea:
How about smoked or semi-smoked plastic (hobby store) or tinted plexi-glass to cover the LED screen?
or
Was thinking a lower voltage power supply or running an additional load in series with the monitor's power supply to take advantage of the voltage drop (like a resistor?)...
(couldn't do it on a lap-top)
