Flood proofing basement: think it is almost impossible to withstand flood pressures if house nearly covered with water unless you spend unlimited amount of money?

But if I had a house in flood zone I would build some airtight module which could be used to store a closet full of most valuable items. I would not be able to use it during the flood but could rest easier knowing most valuable stuff, documents and mementos and electronics and the like would all be safe.
