Many thanks to those here who've expressed concern regarding potential impact of Hurricane Harvey. This board is a magnet for people prepared to help one another. I love being part of this arrangement.

We live in Harlingen, Texas. It's five hours south of Houston and just a half hour from Brownsville. It's a wonderful place to live with all the medical facilities to be found in major population centers, fine restaurants, theaters and one of my favorites---flea markets.

The wife and I are carnivores although vegetarians at heart. We can go to a flea market on a Saturday or mid-week and buy enough fruit and veggies for a week for something between $11 and $19! That'll feed both of us. And there's a multinational buffet with some of the most outstanding food items and it costs $15 for the two of us. It's incredibly cheap to live here!

Marketwatch did a profile of this city earlier in the year. It's been voted the least expensive city in the country with full service amenities.

As for the climate? It's hot as it's really desert land. It's green, thanks to plant life having acclimatized...i.e. made adjustments for drought-like conditions. So, Harvey gave us a splash or two but not more than that. We'd hoped for more but it wasn't meant to be.

The sun is shining and our critters are happy and loving.

All is great and we're all happy.

Have a great weekend, everybody!
