Lin ...as a retired CEO of a small Corp .....expensing right away is a short term stimulus for the economy followed by a huge hangover
It's great to buy a new truck ( or trucks ) for your Co and write off that expense all in the first year ..BUT ....you're not doing that each and every year .
If you did , the used truck market would rapidly expand , prices would plummet ....those who owned trucks but could not buy new ones as a business expense ( to take advantage of being able to write off cost in year one ) would lose out .....possibly default on existing loans ...why keep paying on a $20,000 truck loan if truck is now worth half that ....etc
So expect a boom in year one followed by a bust in the following years .
It's far more stable for the economy to write off the expense of the new truck say over 10 yrs
