Maybe Adam claimed they were pumping oil and making money, but the reality (as was checked out by many with the regulators -- you have to report to the government each and every month how many barrels a well produced, if any) was nothing was pumped except the stock.

Claims of "reworking" the wells were also false. Worse, there was a whole court case about who technically owned the leases/wells with Lanza, remember? They ended up settling with Lanza on top and Adam with nothing.
