VIX Fix: Volatility’s Calm, Cool and Collected

Markets are slightly lower after another week of all-new record highs in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and Nasdaq and S&P 500 Indexes. Volatility levels remain subdued across multiple sectors as corporate earnings, although tepid, are expected to improve as well-known names report this week. The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) closed below 10 each trading day last week, as investor confidence continued to build. So while the market focuses on earnings and ignores volatility in the geopolitical world, stocks are expected to push full steam ahead.
