Agenda-based reporting is wrong, ethically wrong, and it has likely gotten itself into a legal morass because of its bent.
I would suppose the CNN reporters have imagined themselves as latter day Bernstein and Woodward, but they have failed to pass the earnestness test.
From time to time I write for my local paper, especially on matters of water and the five-year drought, issues that for years were heated, urgent and front page material but have since faded because of last season's saving deluge.
My stories that happened to rile members of local water boards were factual. When I found discrepancies in answers I got during interviews I went back for confirmation. I kept my eye on the gist of the stories and they were what got printed.
I am embarrassed for their actions.
