I've made those two-trip visits to Home Depot to get the right parts after having been told the first time by the HD "pro" the part he selected was the right one. I repaired a spa tub filler for a friend and ran into that problem. I had the broken cartridge with me and the guy insisted the replacement he handed me would work. It didn't. Luckily, after a good search on the second trip we found the correct part.

I remodeled my main bath a few years ago, taking it to the studs (real 2 X 4s). The ancient bath had Chicago faucets. Parts were hard to find for repairs over the years. I did the too-often fixes with the idea that a full remodel was in the plans.

They were real heavy brass with a hard chrome coating. Nice looking faucets. But the stem design was unlike anything I had seen and can see why few shops carried parts.
