The 48th Annual Oregon Open was GREAT! (sorry for the sideways pic below)

To quote some stats from the event:

"We had over 595 event entries with 258 players from ... Oregon, Washington, Canada, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, California, and Hawaii playing over 9,000 legs on 48 Boards over 3 days."

One of the things I'm happiest about was engineering a surprise visit by Oregon Open FOUNDER Dee Philip. She also founded the weekly shoot I currently host. She has been in assisted living the last 4 years or so, thus out of the local darts loop.

Her son and I worked it out so her visit was a complete surprise. She got her hair done, and thought she was going out to dinner, ...when instead the Grand daughters brought her to the site of the 48th annual Oregon Open. Everybody wanted to have their picture taken with Dee! I've never seen anybody so happy! Mission accomplished, Pic below.

The 301 event was the only singles event I shot. Made it to the third (3rd) round before I ran into a great player and nicer guy from Las Vegas. It was best 2 out of 3, and I won the first match by virtue of a brilliant set up shot - T14, T14, T20 - a 144 to leave 40, which I took out first dart next turn. The second game was close, and I had 2 shots at the win from 56, but failed to take it out. He wasn't so generously inclined, and hit the winning shot next turn. The third game was all his as he cruised to victory from there. He finished in the top 8 for the event, so I don't feel to bad LoL!.

The 501 doubles was a bit of a disappointment as we didn't play up to our potential and let a golden opportunity slip away.

The Cricket Doubles was another story. We drew the top seeded players (who went on to win the whole thing) in the first round. We played brilliantly, and came close to derailing the freight train that only lost one match on their way go the Championship. We ran up over 300 points against the cream of the tourney! I had a mathematical shot at the win, needing 2 bulls, two 20's and three 18's - with three darts. I hit double bull with the first shot, just missed the D20 on the wrong side of the wire (into the adjacent D1), which ended the long shot opportunity to finish with a T18. We gave them all they wanted! Anyhow, we didn't get as far as we hoped to, but it was all in all a great Tournament and a great time.
